of water does it take to wash an average size 4door car using a standard the 2BM?

The reason I ask is I am considering a CR Spotless System and I want to know how often I will be running through cartrages.

Also for anyone with experience with CR spotless units:
    1. Are you happy with it?
    2. Which one do you own and how many car washes can you get from the refills?
    3. Has anyone rigged up an easy way to by pass the system when using the hose for other than OCD car washing?

    Thanks

I don't have an answer but you could use quick connects to switch from the filter to normal tap. It would be the quickest way I can think.

I've been looking at these systems too and I was thinking of using it to fill the buckets and then switching to normal tap water until the final rinse. A pressure washer would reduce usage too if you have one.

I took a guess, and if im using the flood method to rinse its far more then when I used my pressure washer, Im guessing 12 gallons or less

I probably burn through 5 gallons just doing my pre rinse. Another 4-5 in the pail not including top ups. Another 5 for rinsing while doing the actual wash and probably 5-10 when doing inner fenders and wheels.

Surprised no one said it but the filter life varies depending on the water quality. So it would be tough to estimate.

I considered using one but the rain water is probably just as bad as ground/city water.

Now THAT would be an interesting test. Hmmmm.......

I have a TDS meter. Maybe I'll set up a cup next to a drain spout.

Bump. I was able to gather enough rain water in a bowl to test this. The bowl was sitting directly in the open to give an unhindered result.

The test measured 19PPM. That is far less than the city water at my house (about 200), my parent's ground water (295), and even my Brita filter (about 80).
