Do you keep track of the number of uses and stop after a certain amount? Do you use the 'eyeball meter'? Would like to know what methods are used out there.:thumb:
I use 1/4 to 1/2 a bar once on a car and that is it. Clay is cheap enough where one bar can be used about 4 times (average 200g bar) or more times so. Just kneed it every panel or so to keep it "fresh".
You use a lot of clay! I for one like to use smaller pieces and cut up the 3 bars of Ricardo into 3. And would find them useful for 1-2 times. In other words, cheap to clay and long lasting.
I rip my clay into pieces so I can throw them out, but generally speaking once the clay gets to be a darker color than originally, it's time.
Eh maybe i only use 1/4 bar but I only clay one car (mine) maybe 2x a year or 3x so a bar a year is not too bad haha.
Good point- comparing the unused and used pieces of clay is a great way to judge level of dirt in the clay.
Basically when the clay loses its "sheen", its done. Unless you drop it first, then its time for a new piece.
