i am going to pick up this for 20 bucks Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices i am looking for a backing plate for it looking at this http://www.autodetailingsolutions.com/W66_BackingPlate.jpg i dont want to buy an expensive rotary at the moment cause i dont have enough need to spend alot on something i do not need to use alot.
Sorry, but that's about all it's worth if that. A guy on another forum got 90 minutes out of his before it broke. I buy stuff from Harbor Freight but stay away from their power tools. My younger brother got burnt a number of times buying their power tools. I think it pays to buy good tools that will last for years.
I don't want to hate, but I have heard that HF is a hit or a miss. I also don't want to say this, but you get what you pay for, you will grow to need over engineered products. Sure, I guess it is a good toy to learn how to use a rotary with, but I just think that using a high quality tool would be more beneficial as it is probably better balanced, better build and in a lot of cases powerful enough. I kind of learned it the hard way, I used to buy tools that compared with the best of paper, but only when you use it in person can you really feel the huge difference. It has been stated many times before, and I will say it again " a good power tool feels like an extension of your body". The tool that you should buy is the one that feel natural to use. Operation should become thoughtless. just my $0.02
my HF rotary is still serving me well....it doesnt have all the bells and whistles of nicer rotaries...but it spins the pad in a circle and hasn't let me down for a year....
I just started using my HF rotary and it has lasted me more than 90 minutes so far, keeping my fingers crossed. I agree that you get what you pay for when it comes to power tools but if you just want something to learn on a $20 rotary is tough to beat. Go ahead and get it, play around with it and if it breaks then you're only out $20. Remember you can also purchase a warranty for the thing, its something like $5 for it.
i got a 15 month warranty for 5 bucks. it covers even if i break it cause of something i did lol i should be fine but has anyone used the w66 backing plate? it looks like the good 3m ones except nor as tall. i bet it is worth 22 bucks.
