i just recieved my porter cable 7424. what pads are compatable with the original backing plate it comes with? im looking at the ones on detailers domain.
As D&D said, the answer to your question is based on the size of the backing plate you have... I would suggest buying a smaller one, which is 3" I think, and the 5" or 5.5" one to use with 6-6.5" pads... from experience I've found that 5.5-6.5 pads are best for the PC and don't put too much strain on it like 7.5" ones
i just ordered the 5.5" backing plate and 4 pads from DD. black, blue, green, white and orange pads. is that a good start for pads? oh and i got the brush. now i need help with polish. what are your suggetions on polishes? i have $300 more to go for polishes and waxes. so help me break the bank here guys.
correction o ordered the lake country backing plate for 5-6 inch pads. and all the pads i ordered were 5.5 inch.
Wow... chomping at the bit! My reccomendations IMHO of course... The easy reccomendations would be: Menzerna Super Intensive Polish Menzerna PO85rd These will take care of most heavy marring, swirls, and finish down super nice. These polishs are a little finicky when you start working them in high heat. If you're not going for perfection, a nice Glaze would be wise. Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze is a favorite. Wax... Well, it's really hard to go wrong with the Lusso Oro from Phil. $40 is a great bang for the buck. Finally, if you're really gonna go at it, I'd order an extra green and white pad or two. One of each to correct a whole car wont cut it. Best of luck!
