Help with White Pearl Durability

    Please help me.

White Pearl is one of the nicest looking tire dressings I have ever used but it keeps washing out on me. I stripped off all my old dressing over the week-end and applied a thick coat of White Pearl with an applicator pad out of a spray bottle (to a completely dry tire, mind you). Let it sit for a couple of hours, then buffed it off with a fresh applicator pad. Repeated the application to help durability.

But today was raining all day today so once I got home from work and let the tires dry naturally, 90% (if not all) of the dressing is gone.

I have tried this dressing multiple times as I have a gallon of this stuff and it's just not playing nicely with my tires. This isn't right because other tire dressings work perfectly fine for me, whether they are water-based or not.

Any suggestions? Otherwise I'm just gonna give my gallon away.

    Thanks,
    Emile

I'm curious to see the feedback on this as I'm considering getting some white pearl. I'm in the same boat with SV pneu. Had the same exact situation as you today. With the rain, less than 24 hours later it seems the dressing has deteriorated significantly. And I've never really gotten any crazy durability out of pneu, but for the looks it provides, the durability is not so much an issue for me.

Is pearl a diluted product or straight? I have never used it before? Is it applied the same way as your other products you had no problems with?

Used straight, no diluting. I just put it in a 32oz boottle with a sprayer, spray it onto an applicator, and then apply it to the tire. This is no different from what I do with every other tire shine product I have, except for the gels (obviously) where I just squeeze it onto an applicator and apply it.

With White Pearl, I do buff it down as the directions state to "wipe off any excess", plus it looks ugly until I buff it down, then it looks amazing. But it seems to only look amazing with my car sitting in my garage. Once I take it out and drive, the stuff just disappears.

It is interesting that this post came up today. I was just telling one of my co-workers that I have been trying out SV Pneu, White Pearl and Duragloss 321 over the last few months. At least on the two cars that I have been using these products on, Duragloss 321 has been much more durable. Duragloss gives a tad more shine than both White Pearl and SV Pneu but it is not what I would say is a glossy tire dressing. My opinion is that it gives a deep rich black look. I am going to keep trying a few things with all three in different conditions but as of now, Duragloss 321 seems to last longer for me. I am not a professional detailer so, my experience is only on my two personal cars. I will add that although it is only two cars, these products were all applied during the rough winter that we had on the east coast (2 blizzards in one week and quite a bit of rain) so there has been plenty of mother natures power thrown at these tire dressings. I still want to see how all three handle warmer temperatures this summer before I make a decision on which one works best for me. Maybe Pneu or White Pearl will work better for me over the next few months

I would love to try SV Pneu and white pearl on my own cars to see what results I would get, do they sell small samples sizes of these products anywhere?

For giggles, I mixed up a concoction of Optimum Opti-Bond (1:1 with distilled water) and en equal amount of White Pearl to the aforementioned mix. I will test this out next time I clean off my ride.

    Approx. 80ml water, 80ml Opti-Bond, 80ml of White Pearl.

i use white pearl on my car. ive gone about 2 weeks and my tires were still looking great, but thats about as far as i go before i wash my car and redress everything...but that is when it is dry.

Since white pearl is water based, it washes off in the rain, as with any water based dressing such as SV pneu. I dont have a problem with this as white pearl is so easy to apply and i barely use any product when i apply to my tires. ive done my car nearly 7 times and i havent even gone through 3 oz of this stuff yet :yikes:

when the dressing washes off, it loses its sheen, but still leaves the rubber very natural looking

Poorboy's Bold 'N Bright is water-based and I don't have any issues with its durability in the rain....even just one coat does a fine job.

Running White Pearl in the dry is not really an option for me here in NJ, as it rains quite frequently here.

Does anybody want my gallon? I must have at least damn near 120oz of the stuff left. If anyone can meet me I will just give it to you.
