I'm looking purchase some MF polishing pads but I don't know which ones to get? I've heard great things about the Megs MF pad but I hear alot of complaints about how long they last. So, what are your thoughts on the following pads and which ones should I get! I tried to search for a comparison but I couldnt find anything on this topic. Megs MF Pads *NEW* CG MF Pads Opt MF Pads Surbuf Pads If I missed any please let me know I just want to order some soon I have a 2001 Black Nissan Pathfinder that needs correction on the 23rd
Surbuf are for heavy correction, i find the cut stronger than the mf pads.... next would be megs burgandy, then opt compounding pads. I prefer the opt polishing pads over the megs
I like the Meg cutting disc and optimum polishing mf pad. I just got my order of Opt Compounding pads used them 1x so far
I can't say Megs have held up for me, I'm lucky to get 3 details out of them before they sh!t the bed. I had one take out a backing plate in process too. Last ones I ordered was the CG pads, they get good reviews over in Europe, and I look forward to trying them out this weekend. I have a black VW with a case of "cat scratch fever" Now- can't get Ted out of your head can you!
Im with Junebug on this one. My Meg pads dont seem like they'll hold up much longer, and I've only used them half a dozen times. However, I love my Optimum pads, they are holding up great.
The Megs pads have been out for over a year now so a LOT more people have tried them then any other pads. Some have had issues and others (like myself) have had zero issues. In fact, I still have pads in use from December of 2010. I've recently started seeing a few threads where the Optimum pads are having issues as well. Haven't really seen anything on the CG ones yet. I've still have the earlier version of the Optimum polishign pads but I do like them and have been issue free with them so far. Based on my current experience, I'd have to agree with Sal in that I like the Megs cutting pads and the Optimum finishing pads. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either of them though. With so many different factors in location/climate and user technique, I think it's only to be expected that some users will have issues. Those that use them regularly will eventually find out were the limit is and how the pads should be cared for. (Foam pads fail all the time too when pushed beyond their limit) Just my $.02 Rasky
