I have the hardest time getting rid of ALL the scratches/swirls. I bought the right stuff suggested by pro detailers from forums and in person. But I think I may have cut it too deep? This is what I used: Griot's random orbital subuf pads Ultra cut meguiars Medium cut meguiars Swirl remover meguiars Menzerna polish First I used the Ultra cut. Then I used the Medium cut. And at the time, I didn't really know much about detailing, so I decided to top it with the Menzerna polish. But I could tell the section I worked on was a bit dull (I have a black car). After some research, I figured maybe using the Swirl remover will help since Ultra cut and Medium cut actually leaves micro swirls and scratches. After using the swirl remover and Menzerna polish, it's gotten better but still a bit dull. I decided that maybe the Ultra cut have been too strong. So I picked another section and did the same thing except for the Ultra cut. And I did not do as many passes with the buffer as before. What happened was the paint didn't get dull like the one before, but I could see very tiny swirl marks. I mean it looks shiny but under direct sunlight or just light, I can see them. A month back, I actually did Swirl remover-Meguiars Prewax-Zymol Wax and it did a fine job. But I could still not get rid of some scratches. That's why I decided to get the medium cut and ultra cut. Please...help.
Surbuf pads are for cutting and leave a dull finish that needs to be refined a lot. You might need to get some good foam pads and use them with the Meguiars 205. Dan F
I will post pics hopefully later today. My question is, Menzerna Polish is not enough to bring the deep shine back from the dullness??? If I do use 205, do I still use menzerna polish on top of it?
Like anything else if you use something aggressive like M105 compound you would need to follow up with a medium polish or a lighter polish which is why some folks suggested m205 or menzerna.
