I do quite a bit of these. Customers mail their headlights to me and for $50 I restore them and ship em back. I actually have a deal with a few local auto wreckers. They send me quite a few and I give them a reduced price of $40 per pair but it makes the difference between throwing the lights out, or making $200 on a set for a late model car. Anyway here is my process, a pair only takes 20 minutes! 1. Wash lenses with a plastic solvent. 2. Claybar lens 3. Using my PC with a white 4" pad and Menzerna Intensive polsih until the lenses are clear. 4. Klasse AIO on another 4" White pad 5. Hand Apply Klasse SG. Here are some results.
No harm done to either lens or pad. If I can I polish around them but I always make a few passes right over top.
Another good way to restore head light lenses is to use Mother power metal polish...on a 4 in pad..it does a great job..it has cleaners in it to remove oxidation on metal and works fine on plastics.... Al
Sweet turn around there Chris, I was going to ask the same thing as klumzy. The nipples look big on those head lights, you'd think they would chew the pad up..the results are quite nice. Hey it's Al-53, the guru, the walking, talking, fully mobile detailing dictionary!! :righton: happy to see you here my friend and thank you for the info, as always great tip :thumb:
I have been using the mini power ball with plastx or a 4" pad for quite a while. I think mothers now has something called Power Plastic coming out. I want to try it but it isn't too easy to get up here.
LOL thats what I thought but I was wondering if you had a more "sophisticated" way LOL :rollinglaugh:
