A couple of weeks ago I was offered an opportunity to do a special detail, for a special client, in a very special location. I got a call from Paul (the head guy at Chemical Guys) asking if I was interested in doing a detail for a long time client. I accepted the offer and was told the car was a Rolls-Royce that had just been bought a few weeks before. I accepted the job and very excited for what I was going to see. I was even able to detail the vehicle in the Smart Detailing University Training Facility while also being able to try out alot of new Chemical Guys products including the V36 and V38 Optical Polishes. This was also the first time I was able to try washing a car using a waterless system completely indoors. The car was washed and prep?d using Chemical Guys Ecosmart Waterless wash. I was honestly impressed with how easy the car was to wash if the correct technique is used for waterless washing. The vehicle the client had just purchased was a 2011 Rolls-Royce Ghost in a beautiful color called diamond black metallic. The client was very concerned about the car because it was only 3 weeks old with only 500 miles on the clock, yet the entire vehicle was covered in light wash marring and holograms caused by an inexperienced detailer using a wool pad on this brand new Ghost. The vehicle received a full prep, then a 2 step paint correction using V36 and V38. The paint was polished out using a green paint with V36 which removed all the marring and light swirls very easily. Unlike other polishes that sling dust powder everywhere as the polish begins to break down, V36 and V38 both had no dusting effects as the polish works into the surface. Zero dust from polishing means I didn?t have to do back over the car cleaning up dust residue on the surface and from inside the cracks and crevices. I can go straight from polishing to waxing and final wipe down without speeding extra time cleaning up the mess from polishing. The vehicle was then refined using V38 on a black hexlogic pad which really made that metallic pop. To top it off i used 2 Coats of Blacklight, 2 Coats of Jetseal109, Followed by a final wipedown with Hybrid V7. I decided to go with only sealants because i wanted the metallic paint to breath and not be muted. I had the opportunity to use the high end KORE wax, but I still decided on Jetseal109 to let the flake stand out and pop. This is one of the finest jobs I have even completed.... I would say the car got practically 100% perfect correction since the car was so new. The Rolls-Royce factory really puts a great finish on these vehicles!!! sweet.. 1 question: what's wrong with using a wool on a new car, did he not follow up with a foam pad?
well as far as I know you are the first to use the new polishes, what would you compare them too? Also you used foam pads? how did that work because I was under the impression you had to use the MF disks CG has out. I can tell you, there more then a few people interested in the polishes, if you could elaborate please. Car looks great BTW.
Dude-Good work BUT if you detail a sweet ride this this with suicide doors you need to include at least ONE glamor shot with the doors open! Jef
Damn, that's one FINE detail. And I bet you had access to a whole LOAD of CG products in there. Is that Paul's Mini in the background?
:thumb: Amazing work there Handz one of your nicest jobs yet! Karl when I read the description today on he CG site it basically states the the polishes are pad dependent and can be used both via DA and Rotary. I might give it a try along with a gallon of the new CG Honeydew Snowfoam, since I can use the polishes with my Uber and Hydro Tech pads and be able to use it with my Makita. I am going to link this thread to MM for the guys to check out over there Handz
I read that too, about being pad dependent (foam or MF, because they show this is as a kit with mF pads) but he used a black hex logic........so im guess it its not. Id like to know about it.
I tried looking for them on the CG site and haven't found them, only a post on DW that Porta made showing how they look. Nice! I know the guys are going to love this write up.
Thanks You DSMS. I take this compliment very highly as your work is what i strive to match. You threads are amazing and your work is second to none.
Nice job, car looks amazing! Envious of the work area plus access to the CG stuff, must have been a great experience!
Very nice work sir. Will you see this car on a regular basis or has the owner been instructed of proper washing techniques? How long did it take you for this job or did I miss that in the beginning? What was the owners reaction when he picked it up? Is this his first RR? I hope you can get some awesome referrals because of this detail.
