so today i was in my old town driving through with the wife and minivan and they opened a new handcar wash. and the minivan was filthy so i said what the hell. nice looking place it used to be a gas station now converted into a nice new had wash . pulled in waiting in line they were washing a nice new truck as they were washing it they dropped the wash mitt on the floor picked it up and kept washing the truck:yikes: . then when they were drying it .the guy was dropping the towels on the dirty ground:yikes:. couldnt believe my eyes. though i would share.
not great. windows terrible. paint well its silver so if they put swirls i wouldnt really see them. for a minivan car wash it ok but never my trucks!!:shakehead: its just funny how the guy before me was watching them like a hawk wash his nice new marron trail blazer ss. droping the mitt . and he didnt hessitate tipping at the end:shead: owell .
trhland, A have yet to see a handwash establishment that would meet our (detailers & detailing enthusiasts) expectations. This business is driven by high volume, and low wage employees. Think about the effort an employee will put in when the objective is to get as many cars in and out each day. As for the actual mitts they use, I doubt you will ever find an establishment that uses a clean washmitt for every vehicle they wash. I would hate to be the guy with the Black 911 who is in line behind the Jeep that was just taken out on an off road excursion !!! Too effectively hand wash each vehicle would be very costly, and the price of the handwash would be higher than most automobile owners would be willing to absorb (IMO). What do they charge at your local handwash?
Just wait until your van becomes so swirly and scratched that it turns a different color lol :fs: <--happened to me on my gold ES300. Went from light shade of gold to a dark shade with no reflection whatsoever :thud:. Thats why I bought my own stuff and turned it light gold again :applause2:
just the other day i was driving to work and there is a hand wash on the way and they were drying a black 2008 cadillac. i could literally see the swirls being put in the car with each pass of the towel. i could not help but laugh. i work in detroit. and i think to myself. that guy the way the owner of the car looked, he was a dope dealer. so basically he has plenty of time in his day/week/month. to wash his own car. having a place like that wash your car does not make you more "important". it just shows that your intelligance is minimal since he cant figure out that his paint no longer looks like it did a month ago when he lease the thing. poor car.
maybe they dropped it on the ground on purpose....perhaps it cleans better this way...:yikes::yikes::yikes:
12.00 for full service. includes had wash and vacume and windows. i payed 16 and went for the spray wax/ and tire dressing.i know the spray wax is just some speedglaze silicone but. thats ok the car needed a quick clean up . my wife couldnt care less:gasp:. yes i gree with you dean . theses guys didnt look experenced at all. very slow and sloppy. the owner wasnt even there. but for 90 percent of the poeple who own cars they will think they do a fine job.
I'd pay them 12 bucks to leave me along...Why don't you detail that minivan anyway??? Put a nice coat of Souveran...Maybe it will look even better then your truck!!!
ive been swamped with work this year and i have all i can do to find time to do my 2 trucks. in the slow months dec through feb i detail the minivan. but im just to dam busy . its ok .
To be honest, to 95% of all car owners, the work they do at a carwash is perfectly fine. Some people are probably used to having swirls in their paint and think it's normal to have them there. We cater towards the 5% that doesn't find that acceptable and have higher standards.
I see. Maybe just wash and seal it with Duragloss #601, followed by #105. Now that's durable! It willl last you 'till November for sure.
As detailers we get so caught up in trying to attain perfection, that we forget, possibly on purpose, that most people honestly don't care what their car looks like. Of course these people aren't our customers or our possible client base, but still. My mom still calls me a "car washer" simply because she can't understand the distinction between what I do, and what those guys at the car wash do. She isn't alone. For the most part I don't even bother to pay attention to the car washes as they really have no impact on my business at all. Still though, it is sad to see that they don't have basic training for things like that. Sometimes little changes can go a long way.
VERY TRUE !! it fact theres some landscapers by me that kepe there trucks in great shape . in fact everyone knows of that company to have very clean shiny trucks. one day i saw one at 711 and looed at it in the sun and there were swirls all over it !:yikes::yikes:
you know that funny. i was looking at the company trucks that resealed my roof and he took me down the street in one of them and i noticed that his truck was immaculate for his job. some people really do care alot for there cars. one of my friends his g/f of 3 years god fed up with him he spent more time cleaning and maintaining his car then he would spend with her. but i dont blame him one bit his car was def more beautiful than she was lol. driving a clean well maintained car i could say is around like wearing a clean pressed suit. not only do u look good. you feel good.
