Hey guys, well this is the car i posted the question about a few days ago. A little background, apparently someone was painting a motorcycle around this car and got quite a bit of overspray all over it so the owner took it to someone to get it fixed...and as you will see by the pictures they did a god awful job. I noticed major clear coat failure in the front and was really hesitant to machine it after seeing that. I have had experience with this before and after polishing, the crows feet are really noticable and people dont know it is there so they think i did it. After about 8 hours of trying to reach her she told me to go for it using good judgement to knock down some of the swirls, we both knew this one would not get close to perfect. Also, i was really expecting soft paint here...and in my humble opinion it was rather medium, not soft at all. Anywho, there is still marks prevalant but i think i made an improvement on the vehicle. Process as follows: Engine Sprayed down to wet everything Meguiar's Super Degreaser cut 4:1 and let dwell Rinsed Autoglym Powermax 3 via foaming spray head and agitated with SV wheel brush Wheels and Tires Wheels and wells got MS SGS cut 3:1 Wheels received CG Citrus Blue wheel cleaner cut 1:1 Tires Dressed with CG Xtreme Shine Wheels got Never Dull Arches received Meg's Hyperdressing 4:1 Wash TBM with Meguiar's Hyperwash Zym0l Sponge Blowed dry with leaf blower Clayed with Yellow clay Polish As i said before, this paint was not soft at all. 2 hits of M105 via 4" Edge orange pad on Flex 3401 followed by Menzerna Powerfinish on Edge green 4"...followed by Ultrafina SE on Edge White 4" This was as aggressive as i was willing to go with this one, and for any car really. The condition was really bad to begin with, but like i said..better but not near perfect...here we go. Interior Wipedown with MS Leather and Plastic Cleaner Leather cleaned with this as well Mats and Carpet got MS Enzyme at 4:1 and Extraction at 10:1 Optimum Protectant Plus on everything CG Leather Scent LSP was JW Acrylic Jett followed by Collinite 915 Front Wing to start off 50/50 after M105 A test spot..as you can see there are like scuffs all over the paint, pretty deep too :yikes: Rear panel Overall i had 26 hrs into this one, a pain for sure. The owner was really happy with the work and said it was a dramatic improvement, so thats what we do it for right?
That was nasty!!! Good job man. 26 hours is alot of time invested, how did you end up charging for that?
Thanks fellas! mrgolfrider - not enough haha. Once i quote something i stick to it..i just try to be smart on my quote. I was expecting soft paint and really thought i could make a difference in 2 steps instead of 4, well that answers it haha.
Jordan...That is a ton of time on that car!! Good for you for turning it around, especially after what was done to it previously.
