    hey guys,

I'm starting to get my detail collection going, I want to buy a set of halogen lights, I already have one 500Watt halogen light, but that isn't on a stand. I want to pick one up on a stand. My question is, what watt halogen light is good for detailing? I know there is a 1000Watt light and also a 500Watt light. Which one works best?

    Thanks, Brendan

I have a set of two 500w halogen lights, haven't tried anything else.. But they show defects very well.

Also have a 3m sun gun, defects are a lot easier to spot when you are moving the light around a little bit.

    Brinkmann is a cheaper alternative.

so 500Watts will do? If so, I may just stick with what I have for now and hold it. If that gets annoying, I'll pick up a set on a tripod.

    Thanks

    IMO 500w is enough.
But a tripod is absolutely necessary.

alright, thanks for the heads up. I'll see how my first polish goes without one.
