I'm not sure if that's the name of the product or not. But I was looking at the Griot's Garage products at Advance Auto Parts, and was wondering how well their trim/seal protectant works. It was a decent sized bottle and was only about $10, so I figured it would be worth buying if it were a good product. Since my boyfriend's car is 7 years old and I want to keep my car looking as new as possible, I want to be able to protect all the seals and rubber as best as I can, as well as feed some of the more worn out seals. I have 303 Aerospace Protectant but I don't know how well that helps with seals, as far as feeding them and whatnot. If the Griots product isn't what I'm looking for, what would you advise me buy? Thanks, Clark
This is what I use now works great and works as good as Black Wow. https://detailersdomain.com/Auto-Finesse-Revive--Trim-Dressing-250-ml_p_796.html
Groits is not bad, never heard anything really bad per say............... Meguairs has a really good protecant out, its under their ultimate line, its UV inhibited. Cheap too. http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.do?q=4835 this is good too http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.do?q=4621 Honestly, anything under the Ultimate branding is very good in a pinch or even in general I have no hesitations using any of their stuff. I have used both products. This is good stuff too; just spray a bit on an applicator and have at it. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/stoner-trim-shine.html
Cool, thanks! I like having a variety of products in my arsenal, so I may just try out that Griots stuff. Is this a product that would help revitalize older seals and keep new ones looking like new? I've got trim dressing (303 aerospace) but I'm looking for something to put moisture back in seals and whatnot. I don't think that the 303 really does that.
Rubber Window Seals The seals on most vehicles are no longer made of natural rubber; vehicle manufacturers use a specialized synthetic material called ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM). Natural rubber, or blends containing natural rubber, just cannot endure the direct exposure to sunlight (ultraviolet light) and the harmful-to-rubber oxidizing gases in our atmosphere. The soft seals around doors, windows, sunroof, hood and trunk are constantly being flexed and compressed all the while being subjected to a hostile environment. For maintenance use a product that contains glycerine to maintain the look and feel of the rubber Alternative products 1. 1z einszett Gummi-Pflege - for use on clean or pre-cleaned rubber; protective, with durability measured in months it has a little sponge on top of the bottle so you always get the right amount of product on your weather-stripping or rubber seals. Once applied to rubber they will take on a dark but natural shine. Use bi-annually to provide protection to avoid rubber from hardening or freezing. Highly recommended Iz enzett Gummi Pflege (Rubber Care) – Drivewerks 2. Zymol Seal - a natural plant anti-oxidizing agent, it will prolong the useful life of the seal by restoring the original moisture and resist tearing and sticking 3. Wurth Rubber Care Gel Stick - a silicone-free, biodegradable, and water repellent Griot’s Rubber Cleaner and Rubber Prep - two excellent products for cleaning rubber; Rubber Cleaner is for regular cleanings; like a car wash for your tires, it will also remove the white mould release from new tyres. Then, for more serious cleaning, there’s Rubber Prep, is an intense cleaner for heavily soiled rubber tires, trim, mouldings, seals, and hoses. This gel rubber cleaner removes old dressings and road grime to prepare the surface for a coat of rubber dressing by getting down to the bare rubber
