So I bought my GG 6" polisher back in June, and I've certainly enjoyed it but it seems to die easily. Maybe a month ago I had it replaced when it died on me in the middle of a polish. I noticed it would only work on speed 6, then I saw a blue spark inside the handle and it was dead. Flash forward to today, I did some light polishing on a few marks on a car, and then was maybe half way done applying wax. I noticed it would start to slow down on me so I'd turn it off then back on and it would keep going. Not too long after this it finally slowed all the way down and stopped. I let it cool off for a bit inside thinking it may have gotten hot. Well when I went to run it again it would spark inside and immediately cut off. Did that a few times and now it's completely dead. Just wondering how often others have had theirs replaced. I think it's great that I can get a new one under warranty, but once a month on average will get old. Any chance I'm overusing it? I probably average 3-4 details a week. Thanks for any help an insights. I guess I'll call them again tomorrow for a replacement.
I have never had to replace mine yet. It does come with an extra set of brushes have you tried to replace them?
I guess I could always do that to at least try. I know last time the wire that connected to the speed dial circuit actually blew so I knew it wasn't the brushes then. I'll take it apart and see how things look.
Does it void your warranty if you take it apart ? This machine looks exactly like the Shurhold products machine, wonder if its the same one just rebadged? Dan F
Update: replaced the brushes and it's working now. Thanks a lot irontree! I noticed one brush was smooth and one was rough like it had broken off a piece, so maybe that is where the problem came in. Now what happens when these brushes need replacing? Will GG send me more brushes or just another polisher? Thanks again!
