Nice! I'm waiting for it to go on sale on Amazon again for $80 to get a backup. I worry about getting one from a company I haven't dealt with before. Amazon has always been great for me with returns and warranty stuff.

Won't Griots honor any lifetime warranty claims?

Yes, I've already used it once actually. However, the thing I like about Amazon is that they have shipped my replacement products with 1 day shipping for free. Had to pay like $30 to GG for 2 day shipping. 1 day was way too much. And I was just comparing Amazon vs. BJ's. I don't know if GG will warranty a product not purchased directly from them. First thing they asked for when I called was my order number.

Does anyone deal with GG? I've never purchased from them. Can someone please call and confirm whether there'd be any warranty issues?

Just got off the phone with them. Should you have any issues with the da they would like you to try and go through the distributor that its bought from but bottom line is they warrant and stand behind their product. .

Yeah, great. Just another example of an American company whoring things out and driving down the market value.

This is an absurd statement. It's remarkable how few people are familiar with the basic economic concepts of free trade and comparative advantage...:crasy:

Its the general pattern Ken is eluding to.

Its a complete market de-valuation of even the least expensive of items... the same ones that probably outperform 85% of the crap on the market without flash labels, names and hype behind it. The perennial stuff.

It wasn't large companies like the wholesalers that started it. Its a vendor issue. I am not complaining in the least because fortunately our customers see true value in our lines but when one vendor tries to suffocate another, or the other vendor tries to keep up with stuff like this when they don't move that sort of volume... everyone loses... CMA, Excel and another couple of seriously personable vendors were probably prime examples of this.

As another vendor I am fortunate to not have to get involved with this but it is a major concern just in the market in general. Perhaps I care too much though.

Economics also show that monopolies and oligopolies tend to drive prices up in general. Whether it is through colusion or just plain greed, the consumer will lose in the end as competition lessens.

I'm assuming you don't own or run a business. When a store takes an item like this polisher and whores it out at such a huge discount, nobody wins. Now Griots and the other vendors that were able to sell those polishers at an established fair market price, will have a tough time getting a fair dollar and thus, profit for that item. Now, to make a decent profit on it, they have to make it cheaper. When they make it cheaper, its not going to work as well and guys like you will be crucifying the vendors for selling you the POS in the first place. Ironic eh? Do you really think that guys like myself, Phil and others want to bust our asses to make pennies on items because big companies like AG have chosen to give things away and we have to do the same to be competitive? You can cite big words like comparative advantage all you want, but when these monopolies happen, and they will, don't come crying to me when you're forced to pay whatever they feel like charging you.

Market forces are completely indifferent and impersonal; they do not care whether guys like you or Phil have to bust your asses to make money. "Fair market prices" do not exist (because "fair" is completely subjective).

People (like myself, I certainly try to support small business as much as I can) are ultimately going to come to you for your customer service, maybe they know you personally or perhaps you offer a good or service that is unique and they can't find anywhere else. Just don't complain because another company is able to offer a good or service cheaper than you, because THAT is what keeps prices from being static and what gives you incentive to be competitive in the marketplace.

You just don't get it, do you. I'm not complaining because someone is offering something cheaper than I am. I made the comment because companies like this are whoring the stuff out to a point where you cannot compete. Four years ago, the online stores in this industry had the odd sale. Now, because of practices like this, am alarming number of people won't even buy stuff unless it's heavily discounted. Do you really think these stores would be giving stuff away if they didn't have to? The big box stores have taught us that yes, we can get it for free. I'll watch for you at Wal-mart.
