i have had one for a couple years. so it is a generation one. i use it exclusively on headlights and windows and it works great. with foam pads this older model somewhat lacks smoothness. maybe the new one runs more like a random or flex ha ha. still at that price it has uses including household showers and tight spots

  3. Griots sent me a email a few weeks ago offering to give me a 3" polisher if I would purchase a carry bag for my 6" polisher. Unfortunatally, the offer was only good for like 3days and I didn't check my email for a week, so by the time I was going to respond. The offer was void :duh:

I am still waiting for this offer to roll around again :help:

New one has some power, Mike P. did a little review/test on AGO showing it doing some decent correction.

One is pretty cheap over on topia classifieds I think still.

  6. Yes, I have the 6". I have never used anything other then a ratary, so I can't compare how it preforms against a PC OR G110, but I would imagine it smokes them both. Plus it has a lifetime warranty which is a great thing for me as I tend to tear stuff up quicker then most ppl :crash:

I will be getting this 3" polisher. I'm just kinda hoping they will make this offer again sometime soon :cig:

The griots pads are sad. I tore up there orange pad on the first car I used it on :help:

You may want to give Griots an e mail about the pad you tore up, if you are not 100% satisfied, you may get a refund, worth a shot.

I received my new 3" Griot's DA earlier this month from Autogeek. I can't wait to try it.

Roger, who makes another 3" DA?

  9. I did, and they sent me a replacement the same day. Said they have had an issue with the velcro coming apart from the pad. However, I haven't used there pads since day one. There BP is a goofy size, so to use other pads you must switch the BP :buffer:

I am very happy with there 6". I have used it on at least 30 cars already :buffing:

The Griots 3" is a lovely machine, and quite capable of doing correction work on my Audi.

  12. :shead: How can you have a piece of equiptment for a month and never use it. When my griots 6" arrived I was testing it out within 15 minutes of it being deleivered :cig:

Great, now I want one even more. Better go check my gmail account :giggle:

Guess this is moot then, I had the Metabo SXE400 and bought the Griots 3" v2 and peddled the Metabo. The Griot's is the superior of the two, not by a whole lot though. It's definitely got more power but neither of these is a tool for any serious correction. I use the 3" primarily to spread or remove wax or sealant, some very light correction in tight spots. It works well held upside down between your knees to use both hands for polishing shiny bits.

Not much of a variety of good 3" pads around that I've found. LC makes 'em but nobody carries 'em AFAIK. 4" pads work fine for spreading wax/sealant, forget about 'em for correction. Get enough pressure to do any good and the pad stops.

    YMMV... TL

I have the GG 3" machine as well and my thoughts are pretty much the same. It can do a decent amount of correction with 3" pads, but there isn't much of a variety of 3" pads available. The 4" pads bog down the machine too much to make it useful for anything but spreading wax/sealant.

Overall, I like the machine a lot for polishing tight areas.
