This saw a 2 day trip out to the Cotwolds. Rob the owner (DW member robrobc) recently bought this car and wasnt very happy with the overall finish and wanted it looking its best as it was a retirement present for his wife. When Rob contacted me he said he wanted to watch so he could pick up techinques and some advice and throughout the detail he gave a helping hand which was very much appreciated:thumb: Day1 Wheels and Arches - P21S wheel gel - APC for arches and tryes I then cleaned the convertable roof top with 303 and a soft brush Vehicle was then foamed with Autoglym Powermax3 and worked into all exterior panel gaps, badges and trim with a brush. This was left to dwell for 5mins then jet washed and then foamed for a second time. All door/boot shuts were thoroughly cleaned with APC and worked in with brush Vehicle was then washed with Megs Shampoo Plus and a Lambs Wool washmit. Vehicle was then clayed using Sonus Mild clay and last touch as lube. Here's Rob the owner getting stuck in Convertable top was then protected using 303 Fabric guard Some of the defects present after washing Paint readings were taken with a average of 120 microns so after trying several combos we settled on using a Megs Polishing pad and Megs 83 Not many correction shots Im afraid as just wanted to get on with the job Before After Before After 2 scratches on bonnet needed wet sanding, also 1 on rear panel near petrol flap. This was done with 3000 unigrit and then hit with 3M Fast Cut Plus and a 3M 3in compounding pad Before After After I finished all the correction work I decided to call it a day so pressure rinsed the car off in preparation for the next days work of refining the finish. Day 2 Vehicle was given another quick wash and convertable top was treated to a second coat of 303 protectant All final finishing was done using 3M Ultrafina and a megs finishing pad. All tight areas were done with a 4in pad Rob getting stuck in again and having a play Paintwork was then given a IPA wipedown followed by 3 coats of Zaino Z2 including all door shuts. Polished lips on the wheels were cleaned with P21S Polishing soap Then treated with Zaino AIO including brake calipers. Tyres treated with Z16 Engine bay was cleaned with P21S Toat Autowash and dressed with Megs Hyper dressing Paintwork recieved a final wipedown with zaino Z8 One very happy owner!!! Must say thanks to Rob for the helping hand and endless amount of coffee As always thanks for looking:thumb:
