Hey guys, Here's the extensive writeup I posted on the BMW forums... 581 Pictures!!!! PART 1 OF THE VIDEO IS FINALLY FINISHED! HAVE A LOOK! Hey everyone, Sorry for taking so long to post this, after being gone for 10 days and the fall semester starting again it's taken me a while to be able to get to this! Anyways, So I ordered the car from Vista BMW in Pompano Beach, FL. Special thanks to Omar Acosta and Sal Bromberg there for providing me with a great opportunity to take european delivery of such a great car and pricepoint! I ordered the car back in June, when the M-sport ordering guide had just been released here on the forum. When I went to the dealer I printed out the ordering guide from F30post, and took it with me to the dealer, since they had not yet received any information on the M-Sport line. 2013 BMW F30 M-Sport Line Estoril Blue Black Dakota 8Spd AT W/Paddle Shifters 19" Wheels Alum. Hex trim with Estoril Blue highlight Premium Pack Driver Assist Pack (Not Plus) Tech Pack Heated Front Seats Harman Kardon Sound BMW Apps BMW Assist w/Enhanced BT Auto High-Beams After a couple of weeks, I received an Email from BMW Special Sales with a confirmed ED date of August 13th at 9:00AM. So in the meantime i was stuck to the computer screen looking for the best flight deal, hotels, where to go, the best roads to drive on, etc... Needless to say I spent countless hours reading other peoples' euro delivery threads as well! Here's the route we decided to take: First off, getting to munich ended up being a mission... Our trip was supposed to be MIA->ATL->DUS->MUC, however due to a delayed flight and missed connection, it ended up being MIA->ATL->JFK->AMS->DUS and then a 6 hour train ride to Munich in order to make it on time to take delivery of the car! My check in Time at the BMW Welt was 7:30, however they don't open the building until 8:00, so we spent about 30 minutes outside waiting to be the first people into the BMW Welt that day! And her sister! We left our mark! After waiting about 30 Minutes in the waiting area with all the food and drinks, which by the way is AWESOME! all the food was great! It was Finally time to take delivery! After walking down the stairs, there was a laptop about 1/2 way down with which the BMW Colleague uses to "initiaite" the car to start spinning and lighting, etc... Now talk about weird... My Favorite Number has always been 11, When I raced cars for 9 years, my number was 11... 81ae3adb.png photo by scheerspeed11 | Photobucket And my car just so happened to be in space number 11!! After taking Delivery, we hooked up the GOPRO HD Hero2 to the roof of the car for the "Victory lap" around the Welt! and then Valet parked the car to return inside the Welt for my Keychain and to do some shopping in the store! Now we took a ferry to the other side of the lake to Varenna After spending some time in Varenna, We set out for Genoa. There isn't much to see or do in Genoa, and It's a rather dirty place, however we were just staying there because we figured it as a good mid-way point on the way to Monaco. The next day we got an early start and drove along the coastline to Monaco. Unfortunately the pics from Monaco were all downloaded to my cousin's computer rather than mine, so you can see them if you look at my facebook, but otherwise I don't have the pictures... Here's the view from our hotel the next morning before heading out to head back north. (Hotel Les Terrace D' Eze) On the road towards Via Gran San Bernardo! SO MANY TUNNELS! Top view again! We stopped to eat lunch at this mountainside villiage. We ate at Hotel Suisse, which dated back to the 1600's!!! Insane! mmmmm The hotel served water from the stream behind it! Rickety wood bridge we had to cross to the parking now this was impressive! this guy made it all the way up to the summit! Swiss border patrol didn't like the GoPro we had mounted to the roof, and almost tried to take it from me! I finally was able to negotiate with them that I would delete the footage... I acted like I pushed some buttons (turned it off and back on so it would beep) and made the guy believe I had erased the data Passing by Lake Evian That night we stayed in a family friends' house near Pforzheim, Germany, Just north of the Black forest. In the morning we continued on to the Nurburgring Nordschliefe! Giving the car a quick pressure-cleaning to remove the tremendous amount of bugs that had accumulated! The Dutchmasters, "May We Introduce Ourselves" Breakfast After all was said and done and having spent 2 days in Amsterdam, We set off to drop off the car Monday morning at the Port. Here's the last two pics i took of the car! The wait for her is going to absolutely kill me! It's only been a week (when I posted this) since I dropped it off and with 5-7 weeks to go it's horrible! But worth every minute! one of those moments where you want to cry because you are leaving your car for so long, but you are happy that you got to do what you did! Well that's all for the trip writeup! After dropping off the car we took a train from Amsterdam Centraal to Dusseldorf, where our return flight was from. NOW THE WAIT!!!!
So you live in Miami, you ordered a BMW to be built in Munich, you're picking it up and driving to Switzerland to have it detailed by one of the highest caliber detailing product companies ever, then having it shipped back to the states eventually? Ballin.
That's what im saying Ballin! Detailing must be killer in Miami. I love the M3 sedans though and the 335i's and 335d's too. Surprised you aren't going to detail it. Send it to Paul Dalton.
I've wondered, is it cheaper to get the euro delivery? I mean the company saves on the shipping costs of the vehicle They just produce it at the factory and then leave it at the end of the production line and wait for you to come pick it up The Buyer then has to figure out the shipping costs and arrangements to bring the car back
I've done ED with my old e60 M5, believe it or not you actually get a better deal on the car(if purchased cant comment on leasing) than you would at the dealer. Congrats on the 335
this is not the case, BMW handles the shipping from any of 12 drop-off points throughout europe. If you decide to leave it at a non-port city, a ground transport fee applies but thats all. saved me about 9,000 on the 335i with the euro delivery discount and a couple more discounts as well
wait, if BMW lets you drive it around for 7 days in europe and then you drop it back off at 1 of the 12 approved drop off points, which they then ship it to the US for you, how do you get savings from that?
That sounds like a blast. I imagine you will be importing a pile of sv products as well. A long time ago I was told that after you drove your new car around Europe that it was treated as used when you imported it and you saved on taxes. Is that true or just a story?
Saw some pics on your FB page...the SV factory is sweet. Bigger than I figured. Enjoy the rest of your drip Dom.
Thanks guys! Check out my page on Facebook: @ www.facebook.com/scheerdetailing for all the pics! the internet is too slow where i've been staying over here to be able to upload all the pictures again!
