    Guys,

I got my makita today. I'm really excited about the whole thing and I can't wait to start some polishing.

I gotta a question though ... what kind of gear lube do you guys use to lube the gears? I read somewhere in this forum that some people here use Amsoil and it really quiets the machine down.

I have had great sucess with Amsoil products specially when I used to ride motorcycles. Clutch engagement was so smooth after an amsoil oil change.

    Any advice guys?

I don't know why you would tear it apart and lube it... my two grinders that live in much much much worse environments are old as hell and work great still...

I thought it was part of the preventative maintenance you have to give these buffers along with the carbon thingies on the side.

Yeah that was a thread I started awhile back, what I thought was potentially was a major problem ended up only being some lube that was coming out of the head near the spindle. I took it apart and just cleaned it up a bit and haven't had a problem since. I don't think there is much need to replace it or anything. The lube should last you a long time.
