Brand new, or an Adorama refurb? Or are you doing the Canon loyalty program? Just from what I've read, the 40D is actually better than the 50D...
Buying it off a guy on POTN actually. Man, I've been reading up on them. I started out looking at getting a T1i and then thought it wouldnt be that much of a step up from the XSi. I found a good price on the 50d for $850.
If you're going to get a 50D, how about finding a broken XT and using the Canon Loyalty Program and get it for $625? There is a guy on my Austin craigslist selling a 40D for $599 with about 6,000 clicks. Not a bad price I thought...
I know nothing about the Canon loyalty program. That sounds like a great deal on the 50D. And I happen to have an Xt that I could trade in. Hmmmmmm.....
Just make sure the XT is broken! I've heard stories where people send in a perfectly good XT, and it gets send back to them with a fee to get it cleaned or whatever. Either break yours, or buy a broken one! I'm looking for one myself! Mine is in good working order, but the lcd screen (not the one that shows the histogram) is cracked, and the liquid material has flooded half of it. Do I need to break it more? I could run it over or something :shifty: And I just bought that lens, so I only need the body.
You can call in, and say that your screen is cracked. I do think that cracked screens qualify. They have a big thread on this subject on Fat Wallet, you might want to check it out. Let me know how it works! I'm trying to find a broken XT to purchase so I can get my grubby hands on a 50D as well!
