Backround Story: My previous car was a 2006 WRX limited which i sold to a friend to buy my C5 Z06. Since he purchased the vehicle it has undergone major mods such as full STI drivetrain and a blouch 20G w/ a billet wheel etc....Well i took great care of it but for what ever reason he kept bugging me to detail it but would never confirm a time or date. Well im not gonna beg someone to detail there car because most of the time they dont like what i charge. Well his brother is the GM at the local infinity store and he was bored 1 day and decided to compound the entire car while visiting his brother with a foam pad. He thought he did a great job untill he took it out in the sun and he panicked and he called me immediately. The car was COVERED in buffer trails. All of our friends came up with the nick name Tiger since it looked like stripes on the car.lol. We were pressed for time so i couldnt take any progress pics and when he came to my house (1 hour late) it was overcast so i couldnt take pictures of the buffer trails. Process: So he was helping me and payed me(redunced price)but i still love the car so it was partly helping a friend out and mainly making a "old friend" look great once again. So i started out with cleaned the wheels with Sonax wheel cleaner. Light agitation was needed. Wheels were rinsed thoroughly and tires were sprayed with Megiuars General Purpose cleaner and scrubbed with a tire brush. Again the wheels and tires were rinced thoroughly.I then started Foaming the car with CG Citrus Wash and Clear via Glimour Foammaster. Like on my mothers car i filled the canister up 1/6 with CG Citrus Wash and Clear. Then i washed the car (2 bucket Method w/ Grit gaurds). My friend helped during this process and i explained the correct way to wash the car. After drying the car my friend wanted to see what claying a car was like. I no the car really didnt need it but i remember in the past the rear bumper and back of the trunk would be the only part that really showed dirt on the clay because the car naturally runs rich(Not having Cats doesnt help either)lol. So we clayed the trunk and rear bumper. He was very impressed with what he saw. So i took a large piece of tap off and take it off the area i just worked on and move it to the next area i was working with. This saved me a ton of time. Rather spending 45min-1hr taping the entire car off then having to remove it. I also had my friend on standby with my QD solution (Optimum No Rinse) and a towel to wipe off the black trim. So i started with my Flex 3401 VRG D/A and a white pad with Megs 205 on the driver quarter panel. I wiped it off and pulled it back out in the sun and all the "Tiger Stripes" were gone. So i then pulled the car in garage and put the garage door down and opened the basement door because the North East has been getting blasted with high humidity and heat. I went around the car with the Flex and my friend would wipe off the polish and clean the trim as i went along. After we were done we both applied 845. I showed him how light it had to be. Then we waxed the car again it with Pinnacle SSII. We both applied DP wheel glaze to the wheels and dressed the tires with 303 protectant. I pulled it out in the sun and he was in shocked and was very happy. That right there made it all worth it. The whole process took 4 1/2 hours. It was nice to be able to detail my old WRX again back to how i used to keep it.The wheels that are now on this car are exactly the size and finish that i wanted but never could find a set used. They look great in my opinion. Well enjoy the few pics that i was able to take because he had to leave.
ya its real nice. Ya im 1 of 2 friends with domestics in the group. So i catch crap all the time. But the vettes still a little quicker then this car:headbang:
Ohh man, that licence plate is definitely a keeper! Great work. So he almost converted the WRX into an STi, must of cost a pretty penny!
Ya theres a good amount into the car. Thanks for the compliment! The STI wing was on there when i bought the car. I personally loved it so i never removed it.
i've always loved STi's and WRX's. That is one heck of a color when done right and the license plate is frick'n great!
yes i definitely agree. I rate it tied 2nd best color when clean. First is Black, then Torch Red(color of my vette.lol) and World Rally blue.
Beautiful work !!! Nice to have help to, eh ? Glad you could do this for your friend, and re-connect with your last vehicle too !! Thanks for sharing - you did just awesome work here !! Dan F
