I have 3 rotaries, i bought 2 years ago the makita 9227 and last year a metabo.

The metabo broke 2 months after and then went to the shop...i bought another makita :woot:

Metabo are a little fragile and when you need it for a 8 hours of polishing...it cracks

That is awesome! I've been looking into getting a Metabo for a while now. I have been really happy with my Hitachi.

I had some issues in the past with the thermo shutdown on my metabo when I polished a porsche for 9+ hours.

Yesterday I was polishing a hammered black lexus LS430. I had to go with black wool and strada 1000 polish on some areas. Sure enough it happened again. I almost left the hitachi at the house. No way my PC could even think about correcting this car. I still have to go back and finish the car today. I was using my air mover to cool the metabo while I was wool polishing with the hitachi.

The metabo hung in there for a good 5 hours. But like you guys said a long day and you want to have a spare.

Or you could just buy one Makita. My 9227 has never let me down (knock wood). Come to think of it neither has my Makita BO6040. Been trying to justify buying a Flex but with my Makita BO6040 I really do not need two machines that do the same thing.

As in the 3401?!?! I have to admit I'm actually a little shocked at that, but have no idea why.

Heh, when I read your thread title and clicked the link, I already knew you'd picked up a 2nd Metabo before the page loaded and the pic came up...good form!!!
