what do you fellas use on expensive forged wheels.......i have wash/int to do on a car with a filthy set of ccw's on it and another with a set of painted spoke Iforged wheels? the painted wheels have a polished lip and are in good shap but the ccw's look like he went muding 6 months ago and never cleaned the wheels...so soap and water is not the route i want to go
i would use something like Chemical Guys Sticky Gel Citrus Wheel Cleaner as it is safe for all rims and does a great job of cleaning. You can also dilute it to suite the task at hand u to 5:1 or maybe even more if you needed to. More people will chime in though with probably a ton of other options as far as wheel cleaners go.
i use P21S wheel cleaner on my Work wheels (also used it on my last set of Volks) with anodised/clear coated alu dish and forged centres i dont use the P21S to dry scrub my dish like most do here on regular silver painted wheels. I spray the P21S on dry, let it soak for a couple mins while i clean inside the wheel, then hose off. Then ill use regular wash soap (atm im using Sonax Wash Concentrate) with a dedicated wash mitt
How dirty are the wheels? If they aren't, then there is no need to use chemicals (apart from shampoo and brushes) to get them to look good. Always go for the path of least resistance, same as on polish. Least aggressive method first.
I have a regular client who has powder-coated BBS wheels and this is all I every use. Meguiars Hot RimsĀ® Aluminum Wheel Cleaner Foams up nice and clings well. I like it
i would prefer to use soap and water as that is all i use on my wheels, but the ccw's are really bad so i would be scrubbing excessively with that which will mar the wheel , so i would rather use a stronger chem and less agitation if possible
I always start with soap and water first to remove whatever it can, then move to a wheel cleaner so that it has a better chance of tackling the crud. P21S gel definately gets my vote for fragile wheels. The key is to let that stuff sit so the chemical can work its magic.
