I just got a foam gun from dsms. Its a WG unit from Gilmour (i'm guessing(. Wolfgang Quart Foamaster Foam Gun delivers a thick layer of foam to your vehicle to give the paint maximum lubrication as you wash. Enjoy a safer, My question is this - I know there are several ratios on the bottle, but how much soap do I put in the bottle??? Then do I fill the rest up with water and attache it to the gun or what??? What setting would you recommend and how much soap do I put in the bottle? Thanks, Heath
http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/f34/understanding-foam-gun-ratios-4513.html It can be complicated to a degree if you want the dilution to be perfect. I've been adding 2oz of wash and filling it with water and then letting it rip on the middle setting.
I have been trying to bring myself to buy one but I can't quite convince myself that they would make it that much different.
I just got mine a little while ago and it does a great job foaming everything up..... as long as you don't mind all the extra soap it will use, I do think it would help reduce the amount of abrasion.
I finally got the chance to use my Gilmour Foam Gun and it's going to take a while to get used to it. I put it on the highest setting and boy does it go through the soap. I wouldn't suggest it unless you plan on investing in stock for car soap well in my case PB Super Slick & Suds. I'm assuming that you still wash the car the same way minus the soap bucket, correct? Should you rinse the car first before you use the gun? What is the prime setting?
If you're asking whether or not I like to use a foam gun... well, I just bought my thrird one. I first had AG's model, then the cheaper version (wal mart, griot's etc), and now the Gilmour Foamaster II which will be much better I hope. I broke my first AG when I tried to assemble it. The nozzle never fit securely onto the brass "out" nozzle. I've had to hold on to it with one hand or else it SHOOTS OFF like a ROCKET! With the Foam Master, II it's one unti. I don't mind paying extra for the new one, since it's basically insurance that it wont somehow go flying at the car aranoia: As far as soap... I've recently gotten really into the world of soaps. Especially after reading some great threads on foamguns and their soaps. I can now start to distinguish between say, Megs Shampoo Plus and Megs Hyperwash just by the look of the foam. I'm looking to stock up with a lot of different soaps in the near future for diffeent applications. Here's a big area where Foam Guns come in handy: Your car is dirty after a day or two wash... ...you want to clean it-not wash it necessarily- but it's too dirty to safely just do a QD... ...FOAM IT UP!!!!! This process has worked great for me, and I enjoy it much more than the usual QD wipedown. I hope that helps!
