    Dear nyrep1

I marred the paint on our new van just a little bit, but maybe it was because I just didn't know what I was doing. I was claying for my very first time when I used Ultima's Elastrofoam system. I've since tried real clay and believe I might like the real clay better.

I don't think you'll mar your paint with the foam block so long as you keep plenty of lubricant under it.

I've heard that they work very well at removing contaminants and it's safe to drop them on the ground (provided you wash them off) ur they do marr paint

I did a test spot on my vehicle and it marred the paint .... crazy marring? no, but enough to be noticed. I usually use it for glass. I wouldn't use it if you are NOT going to polish after claying.

I like the fact that is easier to hold than regular clay. I'm going to try it again with a DJ Born Slippy lube to see if I can cut down the marring at all.

And as with anything clay related that comes in contact with your paintwork, you are using very light pressure on the claybar or block, you are not sanding down with 360 grit paper, to smooth out the rough, just worked over by body guys, repair.
You are finessing down the paintwork, with just enough pressure to hear the embedded stuff coming off and when it goes smooth, you stop there and move to another area.
Good choice on using the Born Slippy clay lube; since I started using it awhile back, I wonder why I waited so long.. This stuff is great, and has no ill effects on the paintwork after.

I have been using ONR lube dilution since forever, but I keep getting marring even with the mildest claybar. I just bought the Born Slippy based on the feedback of many forum members (including you).

Great - hope it works out for your needs !!!
I also used ONR, Chemical Guys Clay Luber, Meguiar's Quick Detailer, the little bottle that comes with Clay Magic, geez a bunch more of things, that all worked kind of ok, but nothing compares to this stuff you just bought. I clay every car I Detail, yes, they are all going to act differently, mostly because of the junk embedded, and the way the paint lets it go easy or not, and I have found that after all these years, that this product really works great !

    Good luck with this !

I bought one from CG when I had my red bmw, I hated it. I only used it once. I used an entire bottle of detail spray on that car using it one time. It left black scuff marks on it. Maybe I am the only one or I just was using it wrong but imo it sucked.

i have been using the foam with born slippery now for about 6 months. most of my work are daily drivers and i do polish them. the foam bar saves me about 45 minutes on every car and what little marring is easily handled by the polish,. so in all it is perfect for my needs . only downside is that i now have a huge collection of clays that only get used on high dollar vehicles.
