I would imagine that those of you that have foam cannons use either a different soap or different dilution ratio depending on the condition of the vehicle and the nature of the detail.

I have already gathered the the majority use CG CWG when stripping the paint of all protection and "starting new" and/or for heavily soiled vehicles BUT what are you guys using in the cannon when you dont want to strip all protection.

Here are the three scenarios I need help with - please add what soap/shampoo you use and the dilution ration

#1) Soap/Shampoo used to Strip all LSP or on heavy soiled cars (those covered in mud and serious road grime)

#2) Soap/Shampoo used on light to medium grime

#3) Soap/Shampoo used for a true maint. wash of a well kept car (think your DD), just to get the general road grime off.

    thanks!

    #1) 2 oz citrus W&G, 2oz P21S TAW, rest water
#1b) 3oz meg's NXT soap, rest water (could also add TAW)

    #2) 2oz citrus W&G, rest water

#3) 2oz DG901 or 2oz Opt Car Wash, rest water

I would have no problem replacing the Citrus W&G with the other soaps I have, I would just use more TAW.

ah. at first I was expecting something to do with a different soap for different holidays, I was thinking someone had lost their mind...

CWG will handle #1 & #2 when diluted properly
Snow foam for #3 possibly? I haven't tried it but I have heard good things.

I should have added that for my #3 maintenance wash, alot of the time I'll add an oz or two of DP 4in1, it adds tons of slickness to the wash, and makes it alot easier to dry, and leaves a little extra gloss behind.

    1. 2.5 oz of CGs CWG and the rest water with about an ounce of ARO

    2. 1.5 oz of CGs CWG and the rest water

    3. 4 oz of Majestic Solutions Wash n Wax and the rest water

dontsleep what do you think would be a decent alternative to TAW for the LSP "Startover" wash? And actually what is in ARO that makes it do work lol?

What kind of foam gun is everyone using? I just stumbled on the Foam Lance (by autobrite?) unfortuantely I don't think they sell them state-side. Is the gilmour foamaster II a good one?

umm Id say whatever you would consider a paint safe APC. I like TAW because I know it is safe yet strong, I dont need alot. I dont have much APC experience, although I will say I do have ARO and I probably would use it on the paint, Im just not sure of its paint safeness.

If you need some TAW, you can buy S100 total cycle cleaner at any harley davidson store. Its the same stuff and cheaper too.

Those are two totally different kinds of foamers. One is for a pressure washer and one is for a regualr hose. There are plenty of threads that show the difference in performance.

    For me it is
A: Citrus degreaser with Adams soap or whatever new thing I have going on ;)
I also spray the Citrus degreaser "found in auto parts
with a orange fruit as a label in the wash buckets to make sure
    to strip LSP and dirt.

    B: Soap and water

C: same as B maybe less soap than usual

if you use "A" at some point do not forget to do a water and soap
quick rinse of the tub housing of your canon so you don't strip
    other cars LSP's! :D

I'm bringing this tread back from the dead to solicit more feedback about the daily driver/maintenance wash option. I bought some CG Citrus Wash Clear for option #1, but think it's too strong for weekly washes. I use Zaino (Z2/5 & Z-CS) for an lsp, so the obvious choice would be to use their wash, but at $9/16oz it's a bit expensive to use 2-3 oz/week.

Duragloss and Optimum are pretty cheap, anyone know if they work fine with Zaino products (sorry I know this isn't much of a Zaino board)?

Anyone have any other suggestions for a cheap maintenance wash?

Once I get my foam cannon and PW, this is what I plan on using:

#1) Soap/Shampoo used to Strip all LSP or on heavy soiled cars (those covered in mud and serious road grime)
2 oz of CWC, 1 or 2 oz of Strong Wash, the rest filled with water

#2) Soap/Shampoo used on light to medium grime
1 oz of CWC, 1 oz of Meguiar's Shampoo Plus or 1 oz of DG CWC, the rest filled with water

#3) Soap/Shampoo used for a true maint. wash of a well kept car (think your DD), just to get the general road grime off.
2 oz of Meguiar's Shampoo Plus or 2 oz of DG CWC, the rest filled with water

    What do you guys think?

1-) I use Dawn blue, because it's very inexpensive

2-) Assuming this one doesn't have the requirement to strip LSP off, I use the same as my number three...

JL has, by now, forgotten this thread. There is another soap from Majestic which, in my opinion (and I think he'll agree with me) takes top honors for a maintenance soap. It is...

    3-) Majestic Solutions Ultra Gloss

I use, and like, a lot of the stuff from Majestic. But Ultra Gloss is really tops. I've said this before - it's like washing your vehicle with a big bucket of really high quality quick detailer. It's fantastic.

Hmm, the Majestic soaps are competitive with the cost of the Meguiar's soaps so I think I'll be trying that stuff out as soon as I run out, hehe. I guess I should start washing more often!

Has anyone tried the Majestic Super Foam?

krshultz is correct in that the Ultra Gloss from Majestic Solutions puts my previous maint. wash from them to shame. Denzil as far as the Super Foam goes I've never tried it but one of the guys in there told me he thought it could be used to strip everything. I'm not completely sold and until I hear that from Phil or Jimmy at MS I'll take it with a grain of salt. If one of them however tells me that then I would be very inclined to try it.

How about Maxi Suds II? I just bought a gal of it. I was planning to use it with a cam for daily washes. Is it too strong?

  20. PhoTuGo

    PhoTuGo Jedi Nuba

Maxi Suds II is not too strong

#1) Soap/Shampoo used to Strip all LSP or on heavy soiled cars (those covered in mud and serious road grime)
4 oz of CWC, 1 oz TAW, 27oz Water

#2) Soap/Shampoo used on light to medium grime
2oz CWC or CWG, 30oz Water

#3) Soap/Shampoo used for a true maint. wash of a well kept car (think your DD), just to get the general road grime off.
Hmm dont know yet ima try 1/2 oz of CWG :)
