As the title says I have had some troubles with the grit guards floating and become quite frustrating:shead:, I'm thinking of adding a few stainless bolts and washers to the bottom to weigh it down. Has this happened to any of you, any advice/solutions.

if i just drop in the grit guard it does tend to be a little light and float a litte. I just push it to the bottom and it stays for me.

I will say the easiest thing to remedy this is to get a new wash bucket with a slightly smaller interior diameter than the one you currently have. In fact, measure the diameter of your grit guard, then take a tape measure to the store with you, so you can measure the bucket before you buy it.

I am with Pektel. I have bought the new buckets (the blue ones) from Lowes and the are a bit narrower towards the bottom. Yes, the grit guard sits a bit higher, but you can press it down to where it never moves, or floats.

yeah i noticed that on the home depot buckets the diameter is a little larger so the grit guard is a little more free standing and when used it spins a little vs my other buckets that allow the grit guard to be flush and locked in.

Home Depot orange 5-gallon buckets fit Grit Guards like a glove. $2.34 per bucket, and the Grit Guard goes all the way to the bottom and gets "stuck" there...doesn't come back up until I pull it/twist it out with the Grit Guard's center holes with my fingers. Can't go wrong.

Yep. I just wish they were more translucent.
