nothing...I was told by Flex NA that the ring may slip down causing the rash..was told to just add a drop of silicone adhesive...just a drop.... at 12...3...6...9..oclock..make sure you seat the felt till it bottoms out first...they are working on a fix as I was told.... I have not had any problems with it... just make sure your plate bolt is tight...no need to add a lot of downward pressure while correcting..the weight alone does it.....keep pads flat... I have used mine many times and no problems... AL
the silicone went on the metal hub and felt...the groove that hold the felt in...a dad on the housing next to felt so it holds it in....I know powerhouse said use a light oil on the ring...but I caslled about 5 weeks ago to Flex..now they refer you to powerhouse....but when I called the tech said the felt falls down and rubs.... AL
I am no expert, but I wouldn't oil this felt. IMHO, oil will penetrate the felt loosen it up or even causing it to expand. I would use hard candle wax or even soap since it'll keep it dry but lubricated. I used mine once and I see black particle on the felt so I expect mine rubs a little.
Well, getting the felt wet doesn't help. Mine got wet, made it expand and voila, felt threads all over the car. Thought it was SIP dusting like crazy at first! PB Blaster probably wasn't the best thing to use to lube the felt.
I have yet to have a problem with my Flex but I'll have to check out All's suggestion. I never apply much pressure when doing paint correction. I always change polish, pads and/or up the speed if I need more cutting power. The rotation of the pad and polish should do the work.
i got this from another forum------ quoted--- I just had a converstion with Dave at Powerhouse this morning and I am happy with what he told me. The felt needs to be lubricated, he recommends air tool oil, more that a few drops, If you buy a machine from them this is already done. If you buy it here or somewhere else other than Powerhouse it will need to be done by you or it seems there is a high possibility you will have a failure. They are comfortable with this fix and claim to have had no problems with the machines that have had this done. They are willing to stand behind them and that is OK by me. Mike
My Flex is coming in a few days and I'd like to know exactly what you guys are talking about... pics? What felt?
