I think ppl are going to tell you either Makita or DeWalt.

How often do you plan on using the rotary?

I know there was a thread recently that had quite a few pages of discussion about which rotary one should purchase.

You might want to do a search. From what I remember, Makita and DeWalt came out on top.

Like you, I have a Flex DA. Were I to purchase a rotary, I would most likely go the Makita route, regardless of the number of cars I was going to do per week. The body shop my family has relied on for the past 20 years has been using Makitas for a long time. Heh, when I asked the owner he said, "Forever...we run the sh*t out of 'em every day."

I've not done enough research myself. Definitely do a search though and I'm sure you'll find your answer...or be even more confused, LOL!

I've enjoyed my Metabo PE12-175 and have no gripes about it.

I'm not sure about the FLEX 3403 as I've never used it but I've used the Metabo the most and I really like it, it has some draw backs but I also have the Makita as back up. I like them both (Metabo and Makita that is) and I'm glad I have them both becuase some jobs the Metabo is better at and others the Makita comes in handy but for the most part I'm really happy with my Metabo.

FWIW. I've got a PC, Flex DA and Metabo. I mostly use the Metabo. I like it's size and once you get used to the speed dial location, you can pretty much adjust it with your little (pinky) finger. I've never used a Makita, so I have not other rotary to compare the Metabo to experience wise.

i personally use the metabo, and prefer it strongly over the makita. I haven't used the flex, so i can't give any insight in that way....but you wouldn't be going wrong with a metabo in my opinion.

makita or metabo....the flex is nice as well but those would be my choices.

the dewalt was just too heavy for me.

anyway you choose let me know I can try to help you out.

I perfer the flex 3403 over the metabo due to the trigger and placement of the speed control. I now have two 3403s and have sold my metabo.

Of course with either the 3403 or the metabo I always need a backup, either will go into thermal shutdown when pushed to the limit.

I still have my hitachi as well.

Looks like Phil bumped the price of the 3403 back up. Sucks that I missed the deal, but it's still a nice price.
