I use fk425 after washing but somtimes it likes to streak expecially on black . its like light and dark spots . Is this normal ? Can i get it not to streak if diluting it a little ? The spots that streak i usually go over with onr qd and it will take the streaking out .
I have no experience with it streaking as I use it as a drying aid, but perhaps you're spraying too much in a single area. Try moving as you spray, or spray from further to get a larger surface area with each pull. I haven't heard of anyone diluting FK425, but maybe people have. I would just be weary of this taking away from some of the anti static properties it has.
High humidity can cause some streaking. To help with that, spray on the mf instead of on the paint, and use a separate mf to wipe off. Don't dilute it, it will decrease it's awesome effect.
i was using it as a drying aid when this happened and after it was dry and same thing . you could be right with humidity cuz i think it was like 100% yesterday . I tried spraying from far away and from close as well as light and heavy . As soon as i hit it with some onr qd the streaks went right away . I guess its not good in high humidity or in the sun . I love the antistatic properties . I only mentioned diluting it cuz i read it in a post before .guess its not a good idea .
your spraying too much thats all. i had the same problem and reduced the amount i was spraying and have no trouble at all. i too use it as a drying aid and then go over it with Aquawax. its a really amazing combo.
when using it as a drying aid i spray from like 3 feet away while walking down the car with a really fine mist .Awesome white sprayer . Id say about 5 sprays from fender to rear of car .Is that too much ?
That sounds about right. Most QDs sometimes require a follow up with a finer towel just as a final wipe when using them as a drying aid.
I have had this happen too on my black Saab except I get streaking with almost every QD and LSP I have ever used on it. I know I am not applying too much product and humidity is not a factor but it happens anyway and I believe it is caused by the tinted clearcoat as I never see any similar streaking on my dad's black RX400h or any other car I have worked on. I definately agree with Getcha: a follow up wipedown always takes care of any streaking and another solution to that issue is to use a finer spray head as opposed to the stock spray nozzle of the 32oz FK bottle.
yup was using my pakshak WW and ragshack gladiator for final wipedown and the sprayer im using is the finest there is . Much more fine than the spraymaster or zeps from hd . I think like said it was the humidity or sun cuz i used it today and it didnt happen and there low humidity .Btw i also get the same type of streaking with opt spray wax in high humidity What sprayhead comes with the fk ? I ordered a bunch of stuff from ag and had a few spray heads in the box . I used my one i had already that i love for the fk .Its as fine a mist as a hvlp gun
ragshack gladiator towels are the shiznit-o-bang. I've only experienced streaking with fk425 on a warm panel.
yes they are lol . I have towels from everywhere . 2 best places are ps and rs for sure . I like all there towels also the dd no name . That seems to be the conclusion that hot weather and warm panels seem to dry the fk out .
that is part of your problem right there also. do 1 panel at a time only. its way too hot out lately for any more than 1 at a time.
