Has anyone ever owned one of these? Wal mart has them for $80, its a 10x10 so im thinking about buying two. What are you mobile detailers doing in the rain? Ive had to postpone several jobs these last few weeks and am getting really behind now. Thanks in advance guys.

If it's raining, I don't work... unless it's an interior job, then I just pull it into the garage

I have a pop up canopy that's probably about 12x12. I only use it if I'm buffing or waxing in the sun. Since it only covers part of the car it's kind of a pain. I have to park it in the shade, let it cool down, then do my thing. Then move it and repeat. Does come in handy when you are trying to get rid of scratches and you can't get the whole car in a spot with shade.

I'm with Dust2Glory, I don't detail in the rain because once you pull the clean car back into the rain it will develop water spots and then puddles from the road, etc. I try to ensure there is no rain at all on the day of a detail. Once they leave it's no longer my concern. But just for the excitement factor for a customer, I like ensuring that vehicle is sparkling when they pick it up!

Im just not in a position to turn down work because of rain right now, still trying to get my name out there. Thank you for your input though. Anyone else? Hoping to pick up something soon. Ive owned one of the costco caravan pop ups in the past and really like it, just looking for something more affordable.

I have a 12 x 12 pop up tent and it does not really do much when it comes to keeping you or the vehicle dry. Especially when working on a full size car or SUV in the pouring rain.

Watch your square footage area, some posts are tapered and others are straight up and down. Got rid of the tapered posts in favor of going with the straight.
Some people just want the car done no matter if it's raining, so i do what the customer wants if thats the case.

Thats where im at danny, sometimes they dont care about it getting wet. I did a paint restoration yesterday at my uncles who has a carport at his place, once i finished i drove it back to my place in the pouring rain. Customer was happy i got it done, i just hated having to bug my uncle about it.

i have a caravan 10X10 but only use it in the sun for some shade. i want a 10X15 since is only has 4 legs as opposed to 10X20 that has 6 legs, harder to park car and open doors fully. those cheap pop up shades wont last for crap. i went through about 5 before i bit the bullet and bought a heavy duty aluminum caravan

I have a 6mX3m all in one pop up tent that I used to use. Its made here in Australia by a company called Quikshade. (quikshade.com.au) I bought one 6m and one 3 m walls for it too which attach using velcro. That way I could have two sides closed from the wind. It worked well and I could easily fit a 100 series Landcruiser under it, and still work without too much disruption.
Thing is, it was near on impossibly to erect( on my own) in wind stronger than about 15kts. It was hard enough to erect on my own when it was calm. So i dont use it anymore. If it rains I postpone my work if I cant get into a garage or such. I'll happily wash a car in the rain though (well maybe not happily, but i'll do it).
Its one of the sucky things about being mobile, and why i want to get into a shop asap.
    Cheers
    Brett
