Just wanted to say hi to everyone.. I've been reading and studying online, DB forum and youtube for the past couple of months. It feels like I'm back in school :graduation: I've always tried to take good care of my cars. But I've learned now I really didn't have a clue. So I got a bunch of proper detailing supplies and started my first project last night. So far I've washed and clayed my car and I will attempt to polish it tonight. The car is only about six months old and is in very good condition. It only has light swirls.( white c 63). So I'm going to use M205 with a uber green pad with a porter cable. I think that should be enough? :shead: Do you guys think it would be necessary to use the M205 with a black uber after?.

My polishing supplies power finish, M205 2 yellow, 3 green, 1 black uber pad.

    Thanks so much

What has impressed me the most about some of the members here is that are considered "the best". Not only by their skill, but their willingness to help others and share ideas instead of being egotistical about it

Hi Lebreeze, Mercedes has a Ceramic Clearcoat, meaning that it is harder to be more resistant to scratches and marring. I would do green/powerfinish or 205, and then blue with M205. The black might not have enough cut to finish it down properly, since it is supposed to be a low/no cut pad while the blue is the finishing pad. If you don't have blue, just use black, start with heavier pressure and gradually use less, since 205 doesn't break down and is pressure dependent.

    Good luck!

Exactly why I love this forum :thumb:

:headbang: All done.. Couldn't be happier. Car looks better than the day I got it. Polishing is harder than I expected and is also more strenuous. The biggest lesson I've learn so far is patience. Sometimes I would find myself rushing. I have a lot to learn and I think practice for sure will make perfect. I spent about 12 hours on the car. And I only polished the hood and trunk because it was in really good condition.
Thanks for all the help. Does power finish have a break down time? Also the only mistake I made was probably using too much tape because I had alot of tape residue left. I used 3m auto so it wasn't the tape. But I left it on overnight so that must have been to long.

btw My family and friends think I'm crazy. They are like 12 h detailing a car. You should have brought it to the gas station. They only charge 69.99 for a full detail :deadhorse:

Nice job. Turned out really nice. Get revenge on your friends. Charge them to do their cars. Let them pay for all your detailing goodies. I've got most of my clients doing their buddies cars to pay for their habits!
