Well I got my first job to do a Funeral Coach that I had been in discussions about. The car is an '02 Caddy that was just horrendous. I knew the Caddy clear would be tough as nails, but it surprised even me! I was pushing on my buffer for all it was worth. There were so, so many scratches. Someone was commenting on a water blade the other day. That is what caused all these scratches. I will set them up with a few mf drying towels including the new guzzler that I love. I did not get all the scratches out. Being the 1st job for this company, I didn't want to hit them with a really high bill, so I did the best I could with a reasonable amount of time (it was still just under $300) and they seemed quite happy with it. My FPW pad kept gumming up getting all the oxidation, etc off the paint. It was quite the workout! It did end up looking very wet and shiny. Unfortunately, I used my old POS camera so the pics are garbage. Next time I'll take the new camera. This was an outside only job, I only did the paint and the chrome. It was already cleaned for me. The Process: Paint: Clayed with Blue Riccardo and ONR as lube Scratches compounded out with Megs 105 using PFW with a rotary at 2500-3000 rpm, followed by X3 with PFW at 1500 rpm. Polished with SIP and green LCC pad with rotary at 1500 rpm in some cases Polished with Menz FPII with a black LCC pad with rotary at 1200 rpm DG 601 by hand DG 105 with blue 3" pad with UDM AW after curing Head/Tail Lights: 3" PFM with rotary using X3 3" black pad with DG plastic polish sealed with DG 105 Wheels: Cleaned with Blue Magic chrome cleaner Sealed with DG 105 Misc Chrome: Polished/protected with DG 501 BEFORES: AFTERS:
lol...man now that's something different, these vehicles are quite large and have large surface area. As always great turn around richy :thumb: Creepy..um...maybe just a little.
Great work! I would definitely do a job like this, hehe. So I take it that the increase in RPMs helped with cutting the paint then?
hey richy, Great job. It looks beautiful. I didn't notice but did you finaly make a decision on what to use on the roof...:applause:
Great job as always! Love seeing the work you do. I bet some real money could be made if you got hooked up with a couple of funeral homes as they really need their cars to look great each time they use them.
Thanks Ghost..that seems to be a consensus..I guess with my job, it doesn't bother me at all. They even wheeled in a person in a body bag when I was there...as long as he didn't grab my sandwich, I couldn't care less! Dust..really, it's just a car...no biggie. Doc..Thanks.. Carlos..thanks..I didn't really realize how big it actually was until you start in on it. High speed, lots of pressure, moving not too slowly to control the heat. Thanks buddy...I didn't end up touching it..I ran out of time. I would have used the DG stuff probably. Thanks man!
:giggle: Great job as always Richy! I agree with JL... it could be great consistant business if you could get a few funeral homes as regulars. :shead: I hope a few members read this and target the funeral homes in their area. I don't think I would of thought about prospecting a funeral home for business. It makes perfect sense... they need their cars to look good!!! I understand why it is no biggie for you... but..... :gasp: I would have had a hard time with them rolling in a body bag with me in the room. Great job and thanks for sharing! One more thing... get the shelves up and organize that garage :giggle: You need more room :giggle:
While I was there, another guy I know in the business (whom I haven't seen in a few years) came by and said "You do that work?" I gave him my #. He has 2 to do. Truth of the matter is there's probably more work in funeral homes than I could handle. I'd like to work for one or two big ones and keep them satisfied and keep me busy at the same time. No kidding there..boy was I sore last night! Thanks for the compliment! That is not my garage, it's theirs. I took a bay that is out of the way. Even though it was a little bit crowded, I didn't want to be in their way. Anyone looking for business should persue the FH's in their area. This one damaged the paint using one of those damned water blades. Just re-enforces why mine is relegated to the shower.
:giggle: Glad to hear that is not your garage..... I was worried you had lost your mind.:giggle: Very nice of you to select a bay that would keep you out of their way. Again great job!
