How does this look as a package buy to get me started (doing my own car first...maybe others' later. Much later. I have already a mitt. Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine as a shampoo and clay lube Collinite 915 Aquapel glass treatment (as opposed to Rain X) Optimum Power Clean as a degreaser Pinnacle ultra poly clay The guzzler waffle weave towels
Looks like a decent start. You might want to consider using 845 instead of 915 if you are new to the game. Also, you'll need some microfiber towels. I wouldn't suggest getting them from Autogeek, I was never really a fan of their microfiber. Try Chemical Guys as they have some pretty good deals going on right now.
I'd like to but I'm worried about doing more harm than good because I'm inexperienced and don't have the power tool people seem to use.
Is this a good degreaser, as opposed to say, CG citrus wash? I want to strip wax and start with a clean canvas.
unless wax calls for it (some SV and Zymol very high end waxes) you dont want chemicals thats in wax on your hands. plus you waste more wax when applying by hand.
You can pick up a PCXP with some pads and polishes and not do any harm. The PC is a dual action machine and can't hurt the paint. Depending on what wax you plan on using, you may have to get some foam applicators.
There is one big issue here: you are buying from Autogeek. I would suggest having a look at what the sponsors of this forum offer, as they are often priced below what AG offers and on top of that, you get a 10% discount for being a member here.
To the OP: I'm not sure where you are located, but with AG, you will get free shipping if you're located in FL as long as your order is over $95. It very much depends on what you're looking to buy as some dealers on this forum will have some stuff that AG doesn't and vise-versa. There are also codes for 15% off through AG as well. My suggestion is to not buy from one place, but to figure out exactly what you need and then shop around to get the best price.
You definitley needs some Microfiber towels. Justin at The Rag Shack Home Page has some really nice towels. Plus he has a good sale on as well
