Is final finish a glaze made of fillers for hiding minor imperfections or is it more of a finishing polish that contains light abrasives? I got a sample and want to try it out. The description says that it is a silicone free glaze, so im not sure which one it is. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

Good question. I have this in my mind also.

I bought another finishing polish, Hochglanz (High Gloss) Polish. It was said to be somewhat equal to Menz 106 FF in abrasiveness and finish. Now I can't see Hochglanz but only 1z Final Finish at the trader I purchased mine. I was thinking if Final Finish was a finishing polish with glazing oils in it so there was no need for another Hocglanz Polish, but it is under the glazes tab so there is this question standing.

From what I remember of Michael's response, I believe it is similar to 85rd. Almost no cut.

Are you talking about Menzerna Final Finish (PO85U)? According to the Menzerna sheet I have, it has the same cut as Super Finish (PO106fa) but with just a little less gloss.

Final Finish has about 5-10% abrasives by weight and they are very fine. If applied with a polishing pad instead of a finishing pad, you can get some very minor correction done.

Technically, the term glaze refers to any polish that is 'silicone-free'. However, that term has been blurred and now refers to any finishing polish whether it has silicone or not.

Keep in mind that Final Finish was designed for the paint shop environment where silicone is a no-no. However, you want to present to the customer their car with a nice gloss finish and some protection since they won't be able to use conventional polishes or waxes for at least 30 days. That's where Final Finish comes in.

Personally, I really don't suggest Final Finish unless you're dealing with fresh paint. If you want to finish off with a nice soft polish or wax, use PolishWax. It will give you a deeper, longer-lasting finish.

Another instance to use Final Finish (or any of the Pro-Line, silicone-free polishes) is if you're polishing a boat and the owner might want to paint it in the future. Silicone from traditional polishes can seep into the gel coat and cause problems when it's painted. This is not to cause concern but something to consider.

    Hope this helps.
