looks amazing. i really enjoyed your write up as well as the pictures. looks to me that your "interview" went QUITE well. congrats. i would be absolutely honored if the owner had used words like passion and artist in regards to my work. you should be proud of yourself.
Fantastic job !! What a fecking mess. I can get you some 3M Blue. PM me your address and I'll get a cost for you.
Great work :applause: Glad to hear your "interview" went well. Good Luck!! Hope you can get some blue tape!!
Gorgeous detail - thanks for sharing the detailed description and pics! :thumb: OT question... does anyone use the 3M green automotive tape when detailing? Or is it too adhesive (making the blue painter's tape a better choice)? Thanks in advance!
I use the green all the time with no issues. I had a tiny bit of adhesive transfer on a car the other day but a quick wipe with some adhesive remover took care of it. Very happy with it so far.
Great detailing work - I'd assume on the results shown at the 'interview' you'll get a job offer Slow Hand (apologies to EricC) Using a Sliding Scale (Rotary) 600-900-1200 rpm- commence by spreading the product and then start polishing by setting the speed to 600 rpm, then adjust to 900rpm culminating at 1200rpm then descend to 900rpm and finish at 600rpm; linear speed should be 2 – 3 inch per second (IPS) 1200 rpm is where most of the paint surface defects will be removed. There probably will be some polishing defects (holograms, etc) by descending the sliding scale (1200-900-600rpm) you will remove these and any other minor defects
Thanks buddy! Well, like I said, I left out the high speed part of this and applied a bit more pressure instead. I stayed at 900 for this job and it came out great. It proved very useful, especially in those "curvy" areas... nice and slow .
Great detail. It looks beautiful. It's amazing what you did and the time you spent. It really shows...:thumb::thumb::thumb: I also wanted to mention the write up. I really enjoyed yours. Thanks for sharing...
Great Idea with the head lamp. I have 2, but I normally use them when camping. I'm going to have to try that out! Beautiful work restoring that "new" car. Can't believe that it actually passed an inspection when leaving the factory. If you need the 3m tape, I can help you out too.
What a terrific job! Maybe we should just each SEND you a roll of 3M blue or green tape! [Plain brown wrapper, of course.] I think a very large door to an even larger opportunity has opened for you with that dealer. I hope it develops into a permanent relationship. Unfortunately, it does not speak well for the quality control people at the Ferrari factory! Outstanding work. :thumb:
