So someone locally has a Fein 9.55.13 vac, which I know is older. It does not work, he said it just stopped one day. I was thinking about buying it and trying to fix it. What I wanna know from you guys is do you think I could fix it easily? I have an electrical background with school (I will be fixing hospital equipment). Its only 30 bucks, so I won't be out to much if I can't fix it. Thanks all. Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
Well I don't think $30 dollars is a lot of money for a vacuum that could possibly sell for a lot of money if it was working. Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
Not at all...go for it! BTW, HERE is a thread where I was looking into the Fein vacuum and comparing the stats to others. It seems that water lift in combination with CFM is the indication of how powerful the unit is. I'm hoping to be very busy this summer to be able to upgrade my Shop Vac.
the fein is a good unit... I have the Festool units for years but that only sees woodworking use. Note: I have a Mytee, so I don't use my Wetvac as a extractor. I do use the ~home vac~ as I have some really great attachments that I use in the car.... With that said, if you're looking at a wet vac to use for multi use on the car, I would just look at whatever size shop vac meets your needs... The parts on the Fein may be $ ---$$$$$
The price of the parts is what is scaring me from going forward with trying to buy and fix it. Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
My Cobalt stopped working recently and it turned out to need a set of brushes which were only $30. Also, could be a break in the cord where it exits the machine, especially on an older model. Motors are not cheap, although probably half the price of buying a new one, especially if you can install it yourself. Get the model number and look online for the parts you may need.
So this is it so far. I think the problem is the switch, I'm on the hunt! Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
So its fixed. I think it was a combination of the switch, and a lot of wood dust. So should I use this for dry or if it can be used wet, my wet vacuum for when I use my rug dr upholstry tool? It is so quiet compared to my rigid. I think a lot of it is bc of all the sound deadening they have around the motor and the gaskets that surround the motor from the plastic housing. All in all I think I scored well here. Thanks for looking Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
So I was looking into bags and filters for it because currently it is set up to do wood dust. A rep at a vendor I found said that I would be set up best with their kit that has a regular vacuum filter with proper fittings and paper bags. I asked him why I needed the bags and he told me it is a common misconception that you don't need bags with shop vacs and that all the filter is really meant to do is filter the air going into the motor. So I will be ordering this kit, and look forward to my first car that gets to be cleaned with it!
If you order a unit online, yes it does. I actually got lucky and my Rigid orange car care hose fits the intake port. I don't know if the Fein hose is a lot nicer but I know I'm not going to spend 110 dollars on an accessory kit. Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
So it looks like I will just end up using this for my wet extraction. With 90" of water lift it has to do better than my Rigid vacuum that I currently have. All I need to buy is a foam filter for wet extraction, which saves me a little bit of money.
