A friend of mine picked up a used Chevy Avalanche this week. When he stopped by, the trim was very oily. I knew that waqs trouble. A few days later the trim is faded and dry looking, almost chalky. I would like to order him something that will be the most permanent fix possible. Any ideas?

    Thanks very much.

BTW-there is alot of trim on the avalanche and it all needs to be done.

    thnaks,

    Jeff

I've used black wow with pretty good results and a little goes a long way. There's been a couple of new products out lately I think though and can't speak to them. You've got one option and probably a couple of others.

BTW, IIRC There is a user that just joined over here that did a comparison on another site - maybe he'll chime in.

Fk Chevy for making half of that truck out of cheap, shitty looking plastic. My buddy had an Avalanche too and it's almost a joke how much of that plastic is on that thing. Good luck man.

Go to your local auto parts store and look for SEM plastic dye. Prep it properly and its permanent. Don't screw around with dressings when there is that much plastic.

I have used Black Wow on my suburban, it has the black trim, and fender flares...... lasts about 3 months, looks good and really works, but I have been recommended this as well.

    Its also a dye.

another options would be to remove the trim, smooth it out and color match it.

I disagree, it is not a good option, it's the best option.

Get this! apply it lightly, then apply dressings every few months and it will be just fine.

Value Guard makes a product for it, I haven't tried it personally but if Ron Ketcham says it's good, that means it's good!

Same here, although there has been a rash of pseudo-permanent types of dressings.

Depending on the texture 845 works well too ;)

Expensive, but I hear it works well! Despite Rich Evans promoting it, lol.

I've heard that's great as well.

    x2, Ron knows his stuff.

Didn't I read somewhere that there was a recall on the Avalanches to where the dealerships would replace them?
