yes , when my mom will pay my rent you will see my treads with 70 pictures , all the doors from 4-6 angles before and after and another 20 pictures with the wheels from all the angles possible and every time i touch the car i will snap another picture .... just kidding , or probably not! Nope , i don`t have picture of the door after . i get paid for detail not for pictures. Cosmin
You're so lucky you get to work on those kinds of cars. But I have a question. Why do you use ONR wash instead of the traditional foam and TBM? Why do you use OPT Car Wax instead of a more expensive/nicer wax?
You get paid to do paint correction, yes? Because I really havent seen any from you. I didn't mean for my comment to be facetious, sorry you took it harshly but seeing as you decided to reply with quite the attitude and disrespect heres my thoughts as well: People don't tend to get defensive when they don't have anything to hide. A simple "no I dont have a picture of the door after" would have sufficed. Im really glad you brought up my living at home as well seeing as that is relevant to this thread :shead:, or more likely a desperate plea to remove my (and everyone elses) attention away from the topic at hand, which I will get back to in a moment. I'm a college student who commutes, where should I live? Condo on South Beach? I'm really glad you brought up my posting of so many corrections shots in my writeups... there is a reason I do that, to prove the work performed on the car and to remove all doubt that I did not complete a car up to standard. I could show a before shot of a swirled panel under a light and then show an after shot, well, without a light but I firmly believe in the idea that a picture is worth a thousand words. Doesn't matter if its a Ferrari or a Toyota, paint correction is paint correction. If you say you did it, prove it. :dupe:
do u see on the other side of the buffer? ( means detail for you is only paint correction?) u miss gym today or something ?
I've seen people use 106fa on a white pad to clear up the plastics in a window, but I'm not sure if it's more aggressive than Plexus.
usually i use ONR with TMB, black california was washed a day before , so an onr wipe down was enough. opt car wax is easy to apply , the car looks good after that , if the car is regular maintain is a good wax to go with. when u detail everyday u don`t have time to wait for 2+ layers of seal/wax. i know u will say is 5 minutes , but actualy is more than 5 minute. apply, wait , wipe around 20 minutes well that 20 minutes extra, over 20 days/month is 400 minutes , well i don`t have 400 minutes to waist. do you? i offer extra coats of wax, who chose that than i put extra coats. is not about detailing is about business , find the balance in : time /money / customer satisfaction , and u good to go.
Nope... I take interior, wheels, trim, engines etc. all very seriously too... and there are plenty pics of all of those areas on cars I have done in my write-ups as well. But in truth, basically with decent products and enough time any of those areas can be cleaned or treated to a high level with minimal skill or experience. My wheel cleaning ability is about the same today as it was a few yeas ago when I started, wheels dont come out any cleaner now then they did before... paint correction however is something that can constantly be pushed to new levels. It also requires the most skill and is the most dangerous thing you can do in the course of a detail. For me that separates good detailers from great ones. Guys on here that I personally admire and have great respect for, like David (Carn), JayPlay, Bob Willis and Mischa all do great work and are great at fine details of detailing but what makes them standout is their ability to do hardcore paint correction and revive trashed finishes to a better than new state. Anyone can wax doorjambs or clean and engine with a Q-tip but not everyone can take a trashed finish and (safely) restore it to new. So thats why I place my emphasis on paint correction and why the majority of my recent writeups focus on it.
agree with you on that , the diferance is i plan this as a business and get helper , and later employees. respect for all of you who has the patience and time to get 100% correction , but for some out there is more profit to sell 10 cheeseburgers and burgers than 1 double cheeseburger. was a time when i start and all i see was to get the car perfect , in all the way possible , till a day when i meet and talk with a good and known detailer with 20 years in business and i realize what detail actually is....... i am not going to tell ,i let u and others figure it out. :mounty:
You would get more profit IF you charge more for your doublecheeseburger, unless you have a crack crew to do high volume all you will do is put out fires like I did in the nineties (two trucks 3 employees) and bad s**t happened EVERYDAY!!!!! like "Boss my cat has a cold" or "I dropped the buffer on the Rolls hood..........sorry" the guy with 20 years in the business did "car cleaning" not "detailing" or "paint correction" and I will bet dollars to donuts his crew was shall we say from "South of the Rio Grande" and being paid dirt wages. (B) (T) (D) (T) (N) (Y) (G) (T) (A) (D) (T) Crack this code Cosmin, and you will be on the road to enlightenment:help:
once i see a car i give 2-3 quotes for every car based of what the client wants. he choose, so far 90% don`t go with more than 1 step polish , so i adapt to my market. here is the the crack u ask for: go to "South of the Rio Grande" and find another 2-3 guys train them as dave and u got your 401k set-up and get insurance too..... :hippie:
That last comment almost is valid, except I have been on here posting and posting my details long before Bob even joined... so much for the mentoring.
You are starting to get silly Cosmin.......the code was "Been there, done that...now you go there and do that" as in I have been on that road many times and you are still looking at the map. Btw I have insurance, did not train Dave as he does just fine by himself as you can see. I can see how the feathers were ruffled on the comment for the California detail, but if there is a before pic there should be a after to show the improvement. I can see you have a luxury car broker as an account and they will never pay the full retail the cars need(why I do not do these accounts fyi) but if the write up goes on a forum your best work should be on display imho as I said your pics are nicer lately.....now back to my lane.
