For what it is, it seems like a pretty good deal.

3 Inch Evo Rotary Backing Plate

Anybody have any experience with it? Is it as good of quality as the 3M Perfect it 5 inch foam backing plate?

Isn't this the one dsms uses? I think he posted that it's pretty nice...

It looks like a nice BP. If you look at the 3 & 5 inch combo they want 50.00 for the pair so 25.00 each thats a little off if you ask me. The pads aren't cheap either. You could buy yourself a nice LSP for you spend on this stuff. I can't afford this site...:2cents:

I'm waiting for the ones that Ben is going to get made.

I feel like Gloss It assumes we are very stupid, and expect us to just blindly pay their high prices for some of their stuff.

    Frankly, it's rather insulting.

I dont really see how its insulting:shead:. Quality products for the most part are not cheap. None of the GI products are priced out of the market, simply compare their products to that of another high end brand like Menzera and you will see not many discrepancies in price.

The pads are priced higher because they are pre polymer foams, like that of the recent set of 3M UK foam pads. Pre polymer foams are more expensive, thats why the newer version of the Megs softbuff pads (2.0) are $15 each, those are pre polymer foams as well.

I think the problem is not with the GI products themselves but rather with peoples lack of brand awareness. If Menzerna came out with a new polish that was $54.99 I dont think people would make a fuss, or if 3M created a 3"BP and charged $40. I understand however that those companies have earned a great rep in the detailing world, but it doesnt mean new brands are automatically inferior and therefore should charge less $$. If products are quality and cost a lot of money to produce than they have to be priced accordingly.

    Just my 2 pennies

Like the mf towel that they sell for 30 bucks, and ben sells for half that?

I agree that the polishes are within range. That's why I tried not to include gloss-it's entire line. Which is why I said some of their stuff.

I don't mean they are low-quality products. but the same products (and at least the same quality) can be purchased less. Obviously not all the gloss-it branded stuff, but the relabels.

None? Are you sure about that? That's a very bold statement to say when you actually compare Menzerna and Gloss It in terms of price, I think you should check your numbers again.

8 oz of Evolution Extreme Cut - $29.95
    32 oz of Evolution Extreme Cut - $29.95 x 4 = $119.80
    8 oz of Evolution Cut - $27.95
    32 oz of Evolution Cut - $27.95 x 4 = $111.80
    8 oz of Evolution Polish[/URL] - $24.95
    32 oz of Evolution Polish - $24.95 x 4 = $99.80

32 oz of Menzerna Super Intensive Polish - $44.95
32 oz of Menzerna Power Finish - $44.95
32 oz of Menzerna Super Finish - $49.95
32 oz of Menzerna Final Finish - $39.95

Lack of brand awareness? Please. The numbers above clearly show that GI's products are blatantly and generously priced over its competition. I really don't see how they are comparable. Also, a $30 microfiber?

I think GI's prices disprove your argument/opinion but I'd be happy to entertain your explanation to these numbers and exactly how these figures are "comparable".

Hey Denzil in there defense but if you look at there professional line which are 32 oz bottles they are priced in the range of the Menzerna 32 oz bottles. But I do agree the smaller bottles are a bit pricey

Good eye! To be honest I really overlooked those! I would presume they're the same polishes then eh? I'm really curious though why'd they be in a different "category" if they're the same thing, that is if they really are? :shead:

Is it really a "Professional Line"? It seems a little confusing/misleading.

Have you guys ever looked at bulk ordering from them? Go check it out, its pretty bad on a few things. 340 dollars for 5 gallons of tire dressing..thats 68 a gallon, pretty high..TRV is 160 a gallon....wow...their detail spray is 115.00 a gallon...

With all that being said there are a few things on their site that are reasonable, and some very reasonable...their wheel gel is 80 bucks for a gallon...P21S is 102 for a 5 L (1.3 gallons)...and plus the GI stuff can be diluted. 195 for a gallon of their polishes, it seems i remember Menzerna SIP and 106 at 150...still 45 bucks difference.

The towel on the other hand is in my opinion very insulting like pektel said....thats just ridiculous...i have heard rave reviews about all their products, but then again FK425 gets great reviews as a detail spray and is 27 bucks a gallon versus 115...

I tend to agree with Reflect, this BP (the original purpose of the thread) is a pretty good deal at $25, if it's high quality. The 3M one is, what, $60? That's a pretty big difference. I'm going to get one of RB's small BP, but might even add one of these just to see what it's like.

Polishes, already have, and small pads... well, I'd likely source them from somewhere else...

The 3M backing plate shows up as 22.52 pounds which currently converts to $33.94. The GI backing plate does come out cheaper and is on our side of the pond. :thumb:

Valid points, some products in the line are far more economical than they seem. The new wheel gel for example can be diluted 4:1 and per gallon its pretty cheap to begin with if you compare it to P21s. And what people dont realize about the polishes is how little you need to use. Every polish is water based so it spreads very easily, 2 little dabs will handle a panel just ask Ken (911fanatic), he will attest to how little product you need to correct a car.

And one last thing about the drying towel ... you guys have to realize this towel is not meant for everyday use to dry every car. For that I would stick with the DD waffle weaves which at the moment are my #1 drying towels because they are big and absorb a ton of water.

What the plush drying towel does is allows people who just polished a car to dry it without marring, even on softer paints.

Im not too concerned about a tiny bit of marring from my regular waffle weaves and miracle dryers (CG) after I wash a customers car because I will most likely be polishing it shortly after.

BUT if I just spent 12hours correcting a car and there is dust left over which needs to be rinsed off than I will damn sure grab the plush drying towel to ensure I do not re-induce marring.

Ah I see Dave, so it's really a MF for this particular situation. See, I didn't really read this in the product description as it just says "Ultra Plush Drying Towel". :shead:

So I guess that means this towel guarantees no marring so long as the towel is used properly?

Should be so, dont drag it across the finish. Sheet water best you can and blot dry with it.

Maybe i thought of using 2 WW everytime i dry a car is why i thought it was ridiculous...granted i still wont buy it but.....i guess as you laid out its proper use, i can at least see it being feasible. But this is coming from a guy whose most expensive wax is 70 bucks :)

I too always thought of gloss it as overpriced. I always wanted to try their polishes but couldn't justify their price.

I guess they just redid their website since the last time I checked. I never saw the "professional" sizes.

When you take those prices its really not expensive at all and actually in line with most other brands on the market. My next purchase will be their set of 4 32oz polishes.
