    Hey guys,
I love cleaning my engine bay and would like to get to it alot more. But since I had angel eyes I never cleaned it knowing it wasnt a good idea as it might short one of the lines. After a long time of not cleaning it I went ahead and lightly rinsed it and hit it with a degreaser. Of course, I put on my lights and one of my rings was out for my angels eyes. I gave it till night to dry out before I paniced and everything was fine. What can I use to wrap up any important electrical. Yes I know electrical tape but water can find a way through. I thought I heard something about a spray that dries and molds to plastic?

Just cover water sensitive components with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. These components should not need to be protected from any and all water, rather, they should be shielded from contact with copious amounts of water such as a full blast from a water hose, pressure washer, etc.

Yea I dont do full blast at all and try and stay away from anything that shouldnt get to wet, although water finds a way without a doubt! I may wrap my angel eye electricals in electric tape then plastic wrap to hopefully seal it in nice and tight. I may look to skip the rinse part and just go right to spraying down the bay with SimpleGreen then a damp MF towel wipe down

i have my angel eye wire harness as hidden as possible and the exposed wires are wrapped in tape.

i dont see the cleaning being as affective w/o the rinsing. but you gotta do what you gotta do

Are these factory angels or aftermarket installed by yourself? If theyre shorting out you need to look into the wiring and fix it cause they shouldnt short out that easy. If theyre aftermarket make certain the connections are soldered and heat shrink has been used over the splices. Its a bit more work but you wont have anymore issues and risk permanent damage.

Aftermarket angel eyes. Only prob was one of the connectors to the ballast got a little wet. I never liked the idea of spraying down my bay either way. Im gonna electrical tape em up and maybe see how just a wipe down goes.

They make electrical "paint". You paint the connections that you want to protect. HD or Lowe's will have it.
