So I had a chance today to take the upcoming DGW 2.0 for a test drive and I must say this stuff is awesome. For those of you who loved the original version, this is a great improvement. Hard to imagine one could improve on the original version since it was already hard to beat, but this new stuff does. So like the original, you can use it as a base, a topper, or in between, but I decided to put it as a topper to get a better sense. I did the entire car, but on the hood I did half and half to compare to the original. Please note that the finish on my car is not perfect as I have not polished it in about a year. The car had two layers of Gloss It Finish that I applied two weeks ago. I was in a hurry, so I only took a few pics, which are not the best since it was a very bright and sunny day. Consistency: Thicker than the original version, so not a liquid. This is more like the consistency of a medium polish. Scent: The sample I got did not have a scent added yet, but I hear it won't have the same scent as the original, but it is supposed to be good. Color: Still purple, but darker than the original. Application: I applied via DA with a blue LC pad. It was very easy to apply, but not as easy as the original since it is thicker, so some areas required a second pass for full coverage. However, I found that a couple of nickel size drops just kept spreading, so I was able to cover two doors on my ES 350. You can actually cover more area with less in comparison to the original version, even when doing a second pass at times. Removal: This one surprised me as I expected removal not to be as easy as the original due to the consistency, but it was actually a lot easier. I did the entire car, then the wifey called me for breakfast, so I had to go in. Fifteen minutes later I went to remove it with a microfiber towel and the darn thing came right off. Finish: This stuff is amazing. In comparison to the original, V2.0 is more slick and adds more wetness, depth and gloss. The clarity of V2.0 is also more noticeable. One huge difference between V2.0 and the original is that the original brightened the paint, while V2.0 darkens and adds more warmth. Here are some pics. Notice the glass like reflections on the side mirror.
Just thought of something. I wonder if it will be called Danase Wet Glaze still since Danase is no more. :shead:
Hard to say. It might be a good idea since the product is so well known. Then again, Danase is no more. So, I guess it would be up to the guy that bought it.
Danase name was for sale a while back if I rmr correctly the domain name was up for sale on ebay. May just be called DWG Glaze and drop the Danase on the label.
definitely watching this space ive always wanted to try the original DWG - when i heard Danase closed down i emailed alot of vendors but was too late so what brand is this new version going to be sold under? Is the Danase paste wax worth a try?
Not at all, two completely different products formulated by completely different chemists. The results each produces are very different.
Also two completely different products. The newer EZ Creme is closer to version 1.0 of DWG, but not exactly the same either. In fact, the original formula of EZ Creme was even more different than DWG V1.0, My understanding is that at Bob first worked with CG to formulate DWG, but left them soon after and went to work with some chemists to tweak the formula and improve it, so while everyone thought CG was producing it, Bob was actually working with someone else. This is just my understanding. Now, V2.0 has absolutely nothing to do with EZ Creme or CG.
I still have a couple of bottles of the original, which I don't even want to use, they are like treasures. I don't know what this new version will be called. Yes, Danase Classic Wax is awesome and very inexpensive, so worth it and it produces awesome wetness and gloss, it just never received enough publicity.
Very tempted to try this out then. I have the Ez glaze and I just love it. So when can we get this DWG?
