lalty ive been on a microfiber kick . buying all the new fluffy towels that keep coming out.
but its got to the point that to fluffy really isnt affective!! i tryed the new COBRA 600 gram purple microfiber towels . and are they soft? yes!!! there really nice . but so darn soft they really arent good for anything . even q/ds .. 500 gram towel is about the thickest you really want . .. just thought id share my towel experience with ya guys...

This has been my view also for some time and is why we are one of the only vendors that do not stock super thick towels.

I agree. e-shines Tornado towels are the thickest that I like to go.

same.. i think i bought about 20 microfiber max towels..i use them for when i wanna destroy a towel now..till i get down to ten anyways.. i mean i use them to dry off tires and wheels.. i use them in super soft applications too like picking up dust in the interior of the car.. works great there..never to buff off wax or anything b/c it is two ply..i mean you can use them to buff of crystal rock or a Swissvax wax but not cleaner fluid or cg ezyme.. it bunches too easily.. and i won't use them on the exterior after i picked out about 14 of those plastic tags.. but cg hooked it up and sent be a few extra for my trouble b/c i really only bought 10-12.. one was ripped at the seam and about 14 even the free ones had tags..all but about 6..still a good mf to have.

i really LOVE DD Uber Waffle Weave MF.. and cg light blue waffle weave.. best ww i have used..

for a junk towel i like dd all purpose yellow mf's.

for the basic all purpose wax buffing towel i gotta say i love the dark blue fluffers.. between DD and CG i am set for life.

also for narrow spots and buffing and such i have to say though expensive, Swissvax blue polishing towels rock.. the newer ones anyways as i got a set of the old ones and they are hard but from like 5 years ago.. the new ones are soft and are awesome for buffing dry wax if it's too wet like with cleaner fluid it will bunch up. great for specific applications buffing narrow spaces like interior trim.. it is a good buffing tool for any wax that dries not a on off wax again like ezyme.

Towels that are too thick are just stupid: they are awful for QDing and don't have enough grip to remove waxes or sealants.

They do, however make great pillows.

I could possibly see fluffy ones being using something like ONR.

Same here. I like the 500 -530 gram towels ( after at least one wash). Anything with a deeper pile is just plain useless.

I thought it was just me!

I run into the same problems with the few "impossibly thick" towels I've got. One is a DD "Super Mega Plush" or something to that effect. The second is a Rag Shack "Gladiator." Trying to get RBOE off a car with one results, mostly, in the towel just bunching up and not doing its job. Spray LSPs, like AJT and CG's Blitz, seem to mostly get absorbed by towels like these, which is probably wasting product.

I do, however, find that they're great for removing easier LSPs, Jetseal in particular. I've only got two super thick towels, and the above explains why.

My favorite? Rag Shack "Super Fly" towels. They seem to be "just right," and I like the extra 8" of size - 16x24 instead of the usual 16x16. Inexpensive too. Justin's got them for $2.55/each on his website right now, and even though I've got half a dozen of them, I might get another 6. I think they're great.

Has anyone had a chance to try Chemical Guys 550's the Monster Microfiber. Blue w/Black satin edges 16 X 16 or 17 X 24. Thanks in advance...:thumb::thumb::thumb:

I found that after buying 6 of the cobra 530 weight gray MF's that uber soft is just not that great... so in that sense I agree with you 100%.

I find that shorter nap towels are better for buffing off polish and QD'ing, like the ultra smooth pink MF's from PakShak:worship2:. I save my fluffy McFluffers for LSP buffing etc.

That fluffer looks pretty good next to that 550. Thank you, I get the picture...:giggle:
