This is my mother-in-law's '01 Sunfire. I had detailed it last year with the usual 601/105 combo. It, like Elvis, had left the building it seems and the paint was quite dirty and looked dead. The metallic hardly showed. Shows what a year can do! For the first time in a very long time, I DID NOT USE MENZERNA on this car!! Wow. I had very little time to complete the outside only job: 5 hours. This had the typical very hard GM clear. After foaming and claying (used the microwave again to GREAT results) the paint was mostly defect free but needed a boost. I ended up with M105 with an orange pad which finished down astonishingly beautiful. I also did a different next step...I used a green LCC pad with DG 501. I usually use a much milder pad with 501. My pad turned black...it was gross. But the gloss and jump...outstanding! The metallic jumped and it was quite reflective for a beige metallic colour. Two quick steps allowed me to finish the car in 5.5 hours. Also, the mirrors looked terrible...they got 501 with a black LCC pad..instant beautiful.
There are no befores b/c of the time constraints...after finishing, I'm upset I didn't b/c it came out so well...lesson learned. :(

    Sealed with DG 601/105 combo.

    Hi richy,

I always like your work ... very nice n awesome ...

just curious, is 501 really like AIO? I thought its only a Marine QD ... I use it as weekly maintain after wash ... 501 remove wax? how about DG 671 swirl remover?

    thanks

    thanks Will!
The 501 is a paint cleaner and sealant all in one. I always top it with either 105 or 111 just to give it more protection..not that it needs it as it was designed to protect boats that sit in water, LOL. Here you can see the DG marine products page..the 501 is the polish, the 521 is the quick detailer. I have never used the swirl remover, so I can't comment.

Looks great Richy! I'm going insane. I haven't gotten to polish a vehicle in well over a month.

Pete..I feel your pain. I went through that last year after my knee surgery and I am going to be off for several months come the end of January for another knee surgery so I'll be living vicariously through y'all for a while!
    Thanks a lot Billy! :)

Yes. I topped the 601/105 combo with an beta DG clear sealant. I was playing with different application methods during the process. It gives a more wet look I think than 105 alone.

    Thank you.
That's the gift that keeps on giving, LOL.

Very nice Richy! When I lived up there I use to hate to pull my car out of the garage and drive it in the snow with salt on the roads after detailing it.

Thanks..that's what she wanted was to have it protected. The car is going on 9 years old and has very low mileage. I do her oil changes and run Amsoil in it so it is very well cared for.
Hey Gary, my displaced brother from Michigan.....how are you? Long time no see on here. Hope you're doing well! Nice to hear from you bro.

What's so special about that oil? I've been hearing about it a few times, but never bothered trying it...I've been using Castrol Syntec and Mobil 1 for the last 6 years...

Oh man could I go on about Amsoil! I am fanatical about it. I run Amsoil in EVERY gas engine I own from my Infiniti, the wife's Pacifica, my motorcycle, lawnmower, weed wacker, leaf blower, hedge trimmer...you get the picture. There is simply NO oil manufacturer that makes a better product. Amsoil has been an advocate of extended drain intervals for years and everyone criticised them for it. Now you are seeing OEM's getting on board. Running an Amsoil filter and oil you can go 12 months or 40,000km (25,000 miles) on one oil change. Amsoil is the only oil company in the world that warranties their oil. The advantages of it are better fuel economy, better performance (not necessarily mutually exclusive) as well as safer cold start performance for the engine parts. The interesting thing is that after the year, you actually have spent less on the Amsoil than you would have with conventional oil or another synthetic. There are tons of independent tests that prove all sorts of characteristics that an oil must have that prove time and time again that Amsoil is the best. I have been using it for more than 10 years.
