This maybe a silly Question but does anyone know , Is a water softener the same as a deionizer unit. :shead: :shead: Thank you for any input you can provide. Jeremy
Would washing your car with water from a water softener be benificial or would you wait for a DI unit like CR spottless
Using a water softner would be better than washing with hard water and allow you more suds but no where near what a DI unit does. Save your money and get a CR Spotless.
I'm curious and the question may be odd but this is just me wondering. Okay if you use a water softener to wash the vehicle, wouldn't the salt get stuck in the vehicle and after a period of time could lead to rust? Not sure if this makes sense but I'm just thinking out loud...er...and typing it that is
Soft water filtration systems take calcium out of the water by exchanging the sodium for calcium since it's easier to lose the sodium and pick up the calcium. To recharge these systems you use a very strong salt water solution. When you flush these systems with salt water and the solution is so strong that now the sodium overpowers the calcium and attaches and the calcium can be flushed out and you are right back where you started. Salt as I think you are thinking about Nica is actually Sodium Chloride. The softener just exhcanges the Sodium molecule with the Calcium. I think I'm right on this one but not 100% sure.
Ah okay that makes sense, thanks for the info, I honestly don't know much about water softeners eace:
