I have some debris from tar and dirt on my car that even after thorough scrubbing with a wash mitt wont remove it. Would I need to use a clay bar for this situation?

you could use clay .. but if you dont feel like marring the paint .. try tarminator .. which you can get at your local auto store .. or if you have P21S TAW, spray and let it dwell .. if neither of those work you gotta use the clay

 I agree clay should take care of it but Tarminator should do the trick, just make sure you purchase enough as I've found Tarminator takes a few applications to completely remove embedded contamination. Regardless you should be able to remove tar or dirt of your vehicle.

A product like Tarminator or AutoGlym Tar & Adhesive Remover should take care of the road tar for you. Spray it on and let it dwell for a bit. Spray a bit on a MF and wipe.

Agree with Tarminator. A couple of more to look at; P21S TAW; Surf City Grime Destroyer.

anyone have any luck with DG 471?? I'm starting to think it is just not strong enough, or I didn't let it dwell long enough..I might end up having a bottle to trade..

I have found it is better on bugs than tar..although that's the only thing I have for tar other than varsol, which is pretty strong.
