Hey everyone, this is my first write-up so let me know what you think. Wash: Meguiars Gold Class 2BM Microfiber mitt Uber red WW drying towel. Clay: Riccardo Adam's Quick Detailer Uber red towels Paint: Makita 9227C/3M Perfect-It backing plate Meguiars Burgundy Soft Buff/ SIP Uber Blue Polishing Pad/3M Ultrafina CG's Monster towels LSP: Bilt-Hamber Auto Balm Uber Red notched applicator Uber No Name Super Plush towel Misc: 303 Aerospace Various Brushes and MF towels P21S wheel Gel Meguiars Wheel Brightener Folex Meguiars Hyper Dressing Meguiars APC + Stoner's More Shine Tire Shine So onto the pictures. This Range Rover was beat up, water spots, swirls, tons of RIDS, you name it. Let's start with rims. The rims were relatively clean, but there was some built-up brake dust that I didn't have time to fully remove, although it looks much better. P21S, left to dwell for 45 seconds, agitated, inner barrels cleaned and rinsed: Uber Spoke brush in action: Quick interior and engine, not much pics but interior and engine were cleaned with Meguiars APC+ at heavy(Engine) and Light(Interior) followed by 303. Leather seats were cleaned and conditioned with Leather Masters, carpets were cleaned with Folex. Dirty carpet trim, cleaned with APC + And now the fun part, paint! Just look at the condition... it was even worse in person. Before: 50/50 after one pass with SIP: Some bad defects, before and after: Was about where the tree is, this is only after SIP x2 for the area. Damn! Also is a good picture of how bad the swirls are in the camera flash After SIP, some hazing is visible, was later cleaned up by 3M Ultrafina. This was about as far as I could safely remove the defect: Scratches on the bumper right below the trunk: Better! Ok LSP of choice was Bilt-Hamber AutoBalm, This stuff is amazing, It added a good amount of depth and gloss and was far more impressive in person than in pictures. I love this wax/sealent, perfect amount of bright vs. dark with very nice reflections. Believe it or not, this is a reflection. I was so happy about this: Thanks for looking! This is my first write-up so if you guys have any advice on the write-up or picture taking, let me know! Thanks for reading :mounty:
Thanks man! It was my first detail with a machine polisher so I'm stoked at how it turned out, hopefully I can improve some more :thumb:
for your first time doing machine polishing, i say, mediocre at best. JUST kidding. awesome turnaround man. especially for someones first time. keep up the good work.
Looks great dark..very excellent results, what did the customer have to say? Did you apply anything to the trim at the bottom? If not I would recommend Meguiars Gold Class Trim Detailer, it works great, last a good time, and is inexpensive, just thought I would throw that out there.
Ha thanks man, I'm glad I just jumped straight to a rotary, it would have taken a very long time with a DA. Yea I have some 303 Aerospace on there, thanks for the suggestion though I am definitely looking for more options. The customer was impressed mostly with the bad defects that were removed, definitely made my day.
Very nice work! I'm actually very surprised at how much of the defects on the rear bumper were able to be corrected. Excellent job!
Thanks man, I was too. That is after one hit of SIP, I'm sure I could have got those 100% instead of 90%, but I still need to figure out what RIDS are worth chasing.
With the paint in the condition it is now, that last 10% is hardly noticeable and IMO not worth shaving the paint down anymore to correct. :thumb:
Yep, the stuff is amazing, it's pretty much cutting edge wax. I love the stuff. Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot :mounty:
Very nice work on the paint! However, I still see quite a bit of dirt on the wheels around the edge of the spokes. Was that etched into the wheels?
That was horrible before, nice turnaround. Hmm was Autobalm made just for Rovers? Lol jk, another added to my list of must try
It was far baked on. It was just ridiculous how hard it was to get off. Meguiars wheel brightener, famous for how potent but dangerous to your health barely made it budge. P21S helped, but not much. I used clay, but again it was taking way too long and was very hard to get into the corners where it was the worst. When I do a maintenance detail I'll have another go, but for just working on a small area between the spokes took 10 minutes to remove most of it, and like I said I just didn't have the time to battle it. And Kei169, yea there was tire dressing on it, I worked on this for 2 days and I applied it at the beginning and it must have gotten a little off from all the washes. After I took the pictures, I sprayed some more tire dressing on, but as you can see I was almost out of light so I just wanted to get the pictures quick.
Well done vehicle looks great, Range Rovers are a bit of a pain to detail but the end results are extremely rewarding :thumb: By the way, I've edited the tittle of the thread.
