This car is one of 2 that I had lined up for the long weekend. It's an '04 Infiniti G35. It's owned by a local Crown attorney, so I wanted to make sure he was pleased (not a good idea to piss off a prosecuting lawyer:graduation. It was in decent condition, although it needed correction. I chose wool for my tool. It also had numerous dings in it so I contacted my PDR guy to come by and do both cars. The wheels on this car were a challenge (and y'all know how much I harp on the importance of wheels) so I got to use my new sample of Megs Wheel Brightener (thanks AGAIN to Wolfpacker!) after the DG wheel cleaner failed to do the trick (I wasn't surprised, the barrels were nasty). I also did something unusual for the polish stage as well. Normally after using UCCL or SIP, I follow it up with 106 and a gray or blue pad to jewel the paint. This time, I used DG 501 with a green LCC pad and it really produced nice results. I used my steam cleaner on the mats too, but wasn't able to completely remove one nasty stain. I had pre-treated with Folex too..oh well. This was the first real attempt for me at headlight correction, and boy did they need it. The Process: Wheels/Tires: DG 821 followed by Megs WB Tires with ARO Wells cleaned with Fantastic APC Wells dressed with Adams US Tires dressed with DP gel Wheels cleaned with DG 501 and sealed with JS 109 Paint: Pre-soak with Gilmour foam gun Numerous paint touch ups Clay with Riccardo (lots of tar on the paint) UCCL with 2300 rpm Rotary with wool pad DG 501 with Rotary and green pad, pyramid cycle DG 601 by hand DG 105 applied/removed by hand AW after curing period. Headlights: Wet sand with 2000 grit 3m paper UCCL with a/m Rotary DG 681 (Plastic lens polish) via Rotary, white pad Exterior: Glass with IG Trim with Black Again Interior: Mats pre-treated with Folex, cleaned with Woolite:water, vacuumed after Steam cleaned subsequently Plastic/Leather treated with 303 Aerospace. Interior carpeting steam cleaned BEFORES: AFTERS:
WOW great reflection shots!!!! Love them! nice look on the outside edge for the stripes... it is different and I like it :thumb:
Man nice turn around there richy...you werent kidding about hte head lights wow you sure turned those around well done :applause: Oh I like your stile of doing the wide stroke on the floor mats, it looks good :thumb: So um..did the owner like it? Come on be honest...do I hear a promotion coming up lol...just teasing.
The reflection is unreal!:applause:You put the wow factor on her.....Awesome job on the head lights.....:applause2:
Thanks Tonya..I have been experimenting with different wideness of the stripes I put in the mats. When there's a logo in the mat, I like the stripe to be wider to emphasize it. I'm glad you like it. He's not a police officer..he's a Crown attorney so he's not a boss of mine. I do hope to get some referrals from him though. Thanks Sparkie..I appreciate it. I was pleased with the headlights and more importantly..so was he!
Thanks p1et..the Megs was good. I wore nitrile(sp?) gloves and was careful to puff on my cigar and not inhale the Megs fumes, LOL. It worked well. I have a Carbrite wheel acid that I have yet to try..it should be comparable to Megs..but less toxic.
Yea I can understand how you must have felt richy, every time I wet sand I get a little nervous...I haven't wet sanded head lights though but I can understand the feeling. Thanks for sharing, with craftman ship like that richy I don't doubt you'll be getting referals :applause:
