For those of you who have it, please tell me, is it worth it? I was looking at one at Costco online, and they sell it for $369.99, while others rip you off $450. - http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...=0&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1 Anyway, if I was to get one, should I just use it for final rinse? And if I use it for final rinse (local water hardness is around ~200 ppm), how many rinses I can get out of it? Then what should I replace, just the resin rifill, or the entire cartridge? If I'm gonna get one, it will be DIC-20. Anyway, how much it will cost me per final rinse? Or should I just stick with Reverse Osmosis filtration that I have in my kitchen (Watts Premier) which gets water down to 7 ppm... What about just using a leaf blower as drying aid??? TIA.
after i wash my truck i rinse then i spray the entire truck with a nice q/d (adams) and then dry with a nice microfiber towel . and it leaves it spotless .
For more information see article "Water Filtration " in the Detailing School section of Detailing Bliss forum...
I do the same thing right now, I also use a "water sheeting method" to do a final rinse with a free flowing water (nozzle off), but can still see very light water spots on my wife's Black BMW, and even on my white Infiniti daily driver.
I havent had to refill mine yet so I cant comment on the cost of each wash. I will probably refill the original canisters vs buying new ones when the time does come though. I use it in the wash buckets, for diluting, and final rinses. I have used it about 6-7 times and the TDS meter still reads 000. I got mine from Costco as well but they had a sale on them for $99. After getting one I wouldnt hesitate to spend $370 for a unit. Worth every penny for the amount of time and effort it saves :headbang:
ya it works great i flood the paint then mist (adams ) q/d even on windows . by far the best drying q/d out there . so for me theres no need to drop 400 bucks on a spotless system . im a q/d nutt. i love seeing a water spot and atacking it with my q/d and fluffy towel..:applause2:
There is some great info on their site: CRSpotless.com - Wash, Rinse, and Walk Away The thing to remember with the Costco deal, is that it comes with a free refill. $90 value. Just an added bonus to factor in. If you look at the chart in the link, and reference 200ppm water hardness that you stated you have, the DIC20 unit will provide 388 gallons of spot free water. If you do the math, that means that you will essentially be paying 23 cents per gallon. If you buy the refills in bulk, it drops the price down to 18.5 cents per gallon. This pricing excludes the initial price of the unit itself. If you deduct the two resin fills, the unit itself is essentially costing you $190. I tried to skimp out and buy cheaper water filters and was very disappointed. I bought the CR and my only regret is that I didn't just suck it up and buy it first. You know the saying, you get what you pay for....
the spot less is great if you like to rinse and walk away for sure . but im never happy unless i go over the entire paint work with a q/d .but thats just me ..
The less you touch your paint surface the less chance you take in introducing scratches, marring, and swirls.
Ya, but that's like putting candy in front of a baby and telling him he shouldn't eat it. Were OCD bro. We need to wipe.LOL
I also love doing that, but only wanna touch paint once. that's my whole point, sometimes you wipe with a drying towel once, and there are still little ones left. And I don't like wiping it again to pick them up...
FMINUS did a review on the DIC-10 and DIC-20. He said the DIC-10 is a complete waste of money because you have to keep the water pressure so low that it's almost not even worth using. He said even at that it only lasted him like 10 times or some really small number. I wasn't conservative on how much pressure went in to my DIC-20, and I think I got like 20ish washes out of the resin. I'm sure I could get 50+ if I truly watched it. Plus I use a pressure washer with it, so it sucks water out faster as well (at least I think that's what made the resin go bad so quick?) I wouldn't go a day without my DIC-20. Even in the rain
I think pressure washers use less water. I would only use it for a rinse, but maybe I should consider the DIC-20 after reading that.
Aaaahhh..you guys have commented so much there is nothing else I can add....besides that it's a great tool :thumb:
quick detailer. referring to the spray. i have to admit im still not sold on these machines yet, but then again ive never used one.... i dunno...
