Today my friend brought over his 2004 S2000 for a single step paint correction. This was also my first time using a Rotary to do paint correction so I was a bit cautious and ended up taking close to 5 hours to polish :shakehead: Wash & Dry: Duragloss 901 Proline Grout Sponge Raceglaze detail brush Two buckets with grit guard Vroom drying towel Zep Citrus degreaser 4:1 - on all trim, door jams and exhaust tips Costco Microfiber towel on door jambs Clay: ONR clay lube Riccardo Blue clay bar Isopropyl alcohol afterwards Exhaust: P21S polishing soap Zep Citrus Degreaser Wheels, tires: Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover Swissvax Wheel Brush Raceglaze xl wheel brush Ez Detail Regular and Mini Armor All Extreme tire shine gel two applications Paint Correction: Flex 3403 Gloss it large and small backing plate Gloss-it EVP Meguairs M205 Menzerna Powerfinish Uber Green pad Uber Yellow pad LC CCS green pad Sealant and wax: Collinite 845 Victoria Concours Wax 303 Aerospace Protectant on Exterior trim Chemical Guys Super Towel Meguiars Applicator Glass: Zep Glass Cleaner 32:1 Waffle Weave Glass Towel Well here is the car on arrival First wash starting from the wheels Wax is gone Cleaned the exhaust tip and wheels Car had very little contaminants Used a leaf blower to dry the car Using my new Highline II PTG, there were some 80micron areas on the hood and trunk lid, but overall the car was very healthy. Signs of repair work was obvious from the 1000+ micron readings on the front fenders and the passenger side rear quarter panel I hate doing taping, but it must be done. Tried to take some pictures of the swirls First attempt at a 50/50 Before shots After Headlight before Headlight after Comparison of driver side and passenger side mirror. Driver side is not polished yet. Passenger side is after polishing. Driver side. So hazy. Passenger side. So shiny 8. Two layers of wax were applied. First time with Collinite 845. Second time Victoria Concours Wax. Waiting for Collinite 845 to dry Noticed some water bead lol After Collinite 845 Onto Victoria Concours Wax, waiting for it to dry. After wiping. End result. It was very unfortunate that it started raining outside, so we couldn’t take any pictures against the sunlight :hmph: Watching him drive off into the rain :shakehead: Thanks for viewing. Would love to get some proper feedback and advices!
looks good man. the one step was what that s2k really needed to give it some life again. The paint was hazy as you noted but all and all you did some great work. I need o ask though . . . . where in the world did you get that diagram made that you noted down the microns from the various car areas? I still need to invest in a PTG one of these days and then get some of those sheets you had made. I love doing correction work myself but right now there just isn't a ton of it coming my way.
I found the car model on The Blueprints, reference image database, with more than 40000 blueprints, templates, 3/4/5-views and drawings Find 1 with a top profile, front profile, side profile, back profile, crop and duplicate the side profile and flip it around on a blank sheet.
hard to believe that its your 1st time do correction using Rotary. You have very good tools and products. How long did you leave the 845 to cure before apply Vics wax? anyway, really nice work, well done.
Red is always so hard to photograph defects in when using halogen lamps. 845 is the shiz! The beading and what not is awesome with it.
thanks a lot! Thanks, I just let 845 cure for like 10 minutes before topping it with Vic red. I am thinking of a new halogen setup, right now I got 2x500w setup, but it feels inadequate at times. Took almost 10 hrs from start to finish. Thanks for the support!
